If your life is filled with various adventurous outdoor activities then you’ll need a rugged digital camera to shoot photos or videos during your adventurous journey. Pentax has readied two digital cameras known as the Optio WG-2 and Optio WG-2 GPS, which are rugged enough and waterproof to cope with all sort of drops, knocks and bumps in your journeys.
Both the Optio WG-2 and Optio WG-2 GPS are waterproof for up to 40 feet or 12 meters. And they can withstand drops from up to 5 feet, 220 LFB of pound force, dust and extremely cold temperature down to minus 10 degree celsius.
Both cameras are capable of 16-megapixel for still images. They all have a backlit CMOS image sensor, 5X optical zoom, 28mm wide angle lens and 3-inch LCD display. It also features a digital microscope mode which uses 6 macro LEDs and a detachable macro focus ring for smooth focus.
Other goodies of the two rugged cameras are face detection, blink detection, Smile capture, Pixel Track, Digital, Movie Shake reduction, extended dynamic range and the handheld night snap mode. Both are also capable of recording full HD 1080p video at 30fps, featuring HDMI output for video playback and storing on SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards.
The two cameras will land in March. The Optio WG-2 costs $350. While the Optio WG-2 GP costs $400 as it comes with extra GPS features such as tagging photos with positional data, position logging and time syncing which are great for traveling.
