The LG DoublePlay (previously known as LG Flip II) is a pretty unique Android 2.4 smartphone that comes with a dual- screen and a split keyboard design. The handset is slated to hit T-Mobile sometime in November 2011.
A unique feature that’s unlikely found on other smartphones is its dual screens. The primary screen is a HVGA touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480. And there is a secondary screen that sits in between the slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
The main screen shows you with regular Android icons, whereas the secondary screen has only eight icons providing access to eight apps including six in-built such as Calendar and Messaging and two user-chosen apps.
Apparently, the split keyboard is best for the thumb typists and two-handed users. The DoublePlay also has a rear 5-megapixel camera with LED support and 4G connectivity. Its thickness is somewhere close to the Motorola Milestone 2 and will be available on T-mobile from November 2 at a price of $150 with contract.
