
The Android 2.2 Froyo OS has also been officially launched at the Google Developer IO. The Android 2.2 was claimed 450% faster than the Android 2.1 and it’s true as the Android 2.2 now comes with the just-in-time compiler that brings 2-5 times speed boost to the system.
The Android 2.2 also comes with 20 new Enterprise features including better Exchange integration, device administration APIs, as well as a new device backup app that lets you transfer personal data to new device. There are also a new cloud-to-device messaging API, WiFi tethering, which an Android 2.2 device was used to get a WiFi iPad online during the demo.
The Android browser has also been given a new JavaScript engine, which is also billed as world’s fastest web browser. And a Google Chrome browser plugin that lets you send directions on Maps from your desktop to the Android phone directly.

Now the Android 2.2 is official, HTC has also confirmed to Pocket-lint that most HTC smart phones launched in 2010 will get an upgrade to Android 2.2. But the update will only happen in the second half of the year. The Google Nexus One phone, made by HTC is very likely to get the Android 2.2.
