The Open Camera Controller is a DSLR controller that was built by HDR Labs, based on a Nintendo DS that makes it a camera controller with touchscreen capability, a feature that is hardly found in any of the camera controllers found on the market.

The Open camera Controller offers 8 hours of battery life and the ability for you to control your DSLR like gaming on a Nintendo DS. And you can use a stylus or your finger to control the camera on the controller’s touchscreen. It even has an intervalometer and allows you to trigger the shutter using loud sounds.
The controller is said to be compatible with various brands of cameras such as Canon, Olympus and Sigma etc. HDR Labs have even made it expandable with more functionalities by other open source apps. Unfortunately, the Open Camera controller is not for sale, but the HDR labs’ instruction is open for you to learn how to make one yourself and develope your own homebrew apps to make it work better.
