Mitsubishi had proposed their first scalable OLED screen technology that is made with 10x10cm square units at CETEC Japan 2009. Now they’ve completed a 1920mm x 3264mm 149-inch OLED TV and showed it off at ISE-2010 in Amsterdam. The Mitsubishi OLED TV measures 6.2m or 149 inches diagonally, which is larger than those in the market.
The 149-inch OLED TV boasts a resolution of 1088 pixels x 640 pixels at 3mm pixel pitch, which delivers sharp and vibrant images and even viewable at close range. The OLED TV will produce a light output of 1500cd/m². The production unit will be several times brighter than an LCD display, making it suitable for indoor use or in brightly lit places.
The modular approach of Mitsubishi allows constructions of TVs in very thin and light. Their edgeless OLED display modules can also be joined with others to produce seamless screens of virtually any size and shape, including curves.
