
Toshiba is introducing their new type of fuel cell charger, Dynario, which is refillable to regain its electricity to charge your gadgets. The Toshiba Dynario fuel charger will be good alternative to solar charger or hand-crank charger, which the former will let you down during night time and the latter will waste too much of your energy to wind it.
The Toshiba Dynario fuel-cell charger uses 14ml fuel tank that is filled with methanol. It takes only 20 seconds to fill it up. which can then be used to charge two cellphones. The fuel charger basically has the methanol to react with ambient oxygen which will then produce electricity for your gadgets.
The Toshiba fuel charger provides USB charging to your gadgets. For devices which do not have USB port, you’ll need to get an adapter that suits it. As mentioned, the fuel charger is refillable, all you need to do is refill it with methanol and then you can then start charging your gadgets. Unlike solar and hand-crank, which depends the availability of the sun and takes time to charge up.
The Toshiba Dynario charger comes in palm-sized only, will hit Japan on October 29. Only 3,000 units will be sold and each unit costs a pricey $324 (29,800 yen), some more a pack of the of methanol solution refill bottles will cost another $34 (3,150 yen). At the mean time, this fuel charger is still too expensive to maintain compared to other chargers. Unless the price of the refill pack drops later, or else it’ll hardly get popular among gadget users.
