EyeSeeCam is a new eye-to-robot control interface which allows the users to use their eyes to control various mechanical devices. The users might be able to move the eyeballs only to direct those mechanical devices to perform the required tasks. This will definitely be a great helper for those who’re too lazy to move their hands.
The EyeSeeCam was developed by scientists at the University of Munich and demoed at the Hannover Messe 2009, an industrial technology fair in German. The EyeSeeCam comes in the form of a head-mounted control interface, which is able to track the viewpoint of the wearer’s pupils and transmit the data to servo actuators which can then control various mechanical devices such as video cameras or even a robot.
The EyeSeeCam is equipped with WiFi connectivity, operated wirelessly over WLAN, and only requires a standard laptop with a 6-pin firewire port. The EyeSeeCam was originally designed to study cognitive behavior, but now the inventors hope to bring it to the commercial market in near future.
