Sex offenders are everywhere these days, survey shows that there are over a half million sex offenders in the United States today. If you’re an iPhone user, you can now make use of the StaySafe app on iPhone to learn if any sex offenders staying nearby your area.

The StaySafe app connects to the Family Watchdog’s sizeable sex offender database, to provide useful information about registered sex offenders including the nearby sex offenders based on number of offenses, types of offenses, victim age and relationships etc. It also provides easy-to-use interface that allows the user to search offenders by name and to sort them by alphabetical order, distance, risk level etc.

If you’ve heard from news claiming suspicious sex offenders are appearing near your areas, you can also make use of their known characteristics such as hair color, eye color, race, sex, age range, height range, and weight range etc to find out if they’re nearby. So you can get ready to have your family to stay safe from them.

The StaySafe app for iPhone is now available at iTunes store for a price of $15. It’s more expensive than any average iPhone app, but it’s worth more than that as it’s usable for keeping your family safe. Before I forget, the StaySafe application is also available for the Android phone platform.

While I agree in principle that we should be able to find out this information I think it can be incredibly dangerous. What if you or any other innocent person were misidentified as a paedo? This could destroy people’s lives.

  2. Debra says:

Strangers are far and away the least likely to pose a sexual or mortal threat to your child as confirmed by multiple studies. But moral panic sells so Apple bites.
