We’re used to hybrid cars, but hybrid phone shall be the first time you’ve heard of. Ulysse Nardin, a renowned Swiss watchmaker has teamed up with European firm, SCI Innovations to create a hybrid smart phone called Chairman.
The Chairman hybrid phone harvests energy from motion, which is the same concept used on most watch DNA that converts kinetic energy into electricity to power watches. So, the users may have to shake the phone occasionally to keep its juice sufficient, just in the case when it doesn’t get much motion while it’s in your pocket.
The makers of this Chairman phone claim it uses components that have never been used in some other smartphones before. Anyway, the Chairman phone is available in a limited edition of 1846 and the price must be expensive too. Currently, there is no much information about the specs but it will be unveiled at Baselworld 2009 at Ulysse Nardin’s booth.
