Seriously, I haven’t experienced or heard of any friends complain about the motherboard or other peripherals of their computers get burned after they’ve plugged in a USB flash drive or any USB device to one of the “external” USB ports (USB ports on the front or side of your PC case).
Maybe we’re just the lucky ones. Or perhaps, I have not been playing with cloned PCs or mods these few years or maybe we’re just ignorant without noticing the burned mobo was caused by the faulty USB port. For those who have been into playing around with any cloned PCs, making some mods by themselves might have experienced what was mentioned. It’s simply because of the USB header is wired incorrectly such as the +5V wire swapped with the Ground wire.
If you’re highly concerned whether your computer comes with the correctly wired USB ports, then it’s always a neat to take a check. Especially for the PC technicians who need to deal with tons of PC in their life. Before plugging in any USB flash drive into a USB port, just make use of this USBCheck dongle to plug in to the USB port first.
