The kind of robotic teddy bear or soft toy seems to be the recent trend that the researchers are eagerly making. The reason is simply because, the cities are filled with more lonely and old folks who need these robotic beers to be a great companion.
MIT is taking the same foot step, making another companion robot for you. This MIT’s robotic teddy bear is called Huggable™. It’s designed to be much more than a fun interactive robotic companion for the lonely geeks. It’s able to be involved as a team member, to participate in a social network to interact with others.
The Huggable is also packed with more hardware than any average bear, such as the entire body is all covered in touch/force/temperature sensors (about 1,500 sensors to be highly interactive). He’s also got cameras behind his eyes, a speaker in his nose, and servo motors etc.
Huggable is also capable of capturing those images, videos, sounds with its eyes and ears, and exchanges the signals with a centrally located server wirelessly for crunching those data.
An interesting feature of this Huggable bear is you can set one bear up and having another slave bear to imitate or reproduce the actions of the master bear. The slave bear copies all the movements of the master bear and a computer is able to tell you where and how the Huggable is being touched, and transmits live video and audio feeds.

Oooh, do old people really need robotic BEERS? I mean, I know I could use a few sometimes when I don’t want to get up, but really do we WANT old people drinking?

If ain’t have someone, a companion, then an interactive robot maybe sufficient… some more it will not quarrel with you. For kids once they’ve grown, they’ll become rebellious, and even for parents when they’re old, they tend not to like what the kids are doing…. and kids will leave them

i think that this is a darn cute innovation. especially since christmas is coming around the corner.. best for young couples .. since the bear seems to work 2-ways
