If hostile thought could be early detected before any thing more serious happens, it’ll be kind of effective to reduce crimes. Department of Homeland security is into the research of such a sensor that will be capable of detecting hostile thought.
The hostile thought detector has been renamed and now called Future Attribute Screening Technologies or FAST in short. The system is capable of remotely checking people’s pulse rate, breathing patterns, skin temperature and momentary facial expressions to determine if a person is producing all the hostile thoughts in the brain.
The system is equipped with various sensors from simple cameras to infrared sensors to eye-safe laser radars to collect all the necessary data to determine if the people is having hostile thoughts. They’ve carried out some experiments by getting some volunteers to deliberately act suspiciously and the device could achieve 78% of accuracy.
The FAST sounds to be an invasion of privacy but the department insists that it’s not a problem as the detection will not be linked to any identity. It’s only used by to help officer decide if a suspicious person should be invited for a coffee break.
