Today’s mobile phone having tons of functionalities clammed on one compact body, which is almost like a full fledged personal computer, except a few things, which one of them is the capability of accessing optical disc. But, now this feature has been incorporated into mobile phone by an Indian handset manufacturer, Spice. And they’ve showed off their new mobile phone that built-in optical disc at the Mobile World Conference.

The Spice’s new mobile phone supports mini optical disc that is produced by another company, Vmedia. The mini optical disc has a diameter of 32mm, that can fit in a full feature length movie on to it in 576p resolution. Similar to Sony’s mini disc but smaller, it’s contained within a small cartridge and it uses blue laser technology.
The first version of the mini optical disc will be a single layer that has 1GB of capacity. The second version, the double layered disc will be made available only in 2009, which has double the capacity (2GB) of the single layer.
But, it seems like there are only small quantity of movies recorded on the Vmedia optical discs that can be found in the market. And most of them are movies from the Bollywood - Indian movies.
