Still on the search for a small and compact enough computer that fits well to your frequent traveling schedule? The two new Gigabyte’s UMPCs, M700 and M528, which are on the show at CeBIT might be worth a look. The M700 UMPC features a 7″ touchscreen with a resolution of 1024X600. Inside the case is a C7-M VIA CPU at 1.2Ghz, 2GB of RAM. And you have options either going for a 40 or 60GB of HDD (1.8GHz). And this guy runs Windows Vista Home Premium as the OS.

Besides the 7-inch version, ASUS’s Eee PC has an 9-inch version. The 9-inche version was showed off at CeBIT. The 9-inch version has a screen resolution of 1024 x 600 and looks to be almost exactly the same with the pixeld density of the 7-inch version.

Those working in harsh environment will need to have a computer that can stand the test of drop and collision. A computer with a rugged body is definitely your choice. Duros is an UMPC that is specially designed to withstand environment that is dusty, wet, with extreme temperature, and ideally it could pass many thousand times of drops.

HP seems wanna share a bite of the UMPC market. Rumor is floating around telling us that HP is readying its new ultra mobile computer, called HP Compaq 2133. Although some still claim it’s just a rumor, but they have all the pictures ready for you and also pretty detailed specs. But only the price still remains as secret.

Something you might have missed at CES 2008. An ultra small prototyped PC, which might not be the world’s smallest, but it could be the lightest, has been revealed by Lenovo at CES 2008 last week. The ultra small prototyped PC weighs only 300g and it employs the “Menlow” – the new platform that Intel Corp is planning to launch in 2008. The ultra small PC runs Linux as the OS. It targets startup time of 20 seconds with easy menu icons for internet ,entertainment, and Home are to be displayed on the startup screen.

The thinnest of the Macbook Air that can easily fit in a manila envelope, has attracted many to make comparisons with some UPMCish computers. The Asus EEE that we’ve seen before has also been picked for comparison with the Air. Isn’t it fair to have a direct comparison like that. The Air is super thin, we all know, but one great thing I like is, despite the thinnest it still offers a wide and comfortable enough screen of 13″ for the users. For some of you prefer lightness of a notebook than the thinness, of course, it’s best to go for a UMPC, if you wouldn’t mind the overly small 7-8 inch screen.

Although the Macbook Air is the world’s thinnest notebook, but it still weighs about 3 pounds, which wouldn’t be the best choice for some of you who value the lightness more than the thinness. The newly announced Fujitsu’s P1620 would be a better choice for its lightness and also for those who prefer PC environment than the Mac environment. The P1620 weighs 2.2 pounds with a 3-cell battery and 2.5 pounds with a 6-cell battery.

World’s smallest PC, MTube was presented at CES 2008. Many would have missed this smallest PC at CES as it’s so tiny, measures at 3.34 x 3.34 x 0.78 inches and weighs 5.3 ounces only. The smallest guy here is a full-featured computer that runs Linux operating system and is a WiFi-enabled UMPC. Full specs and video of this tiny guy in action presented to you after the jump!
