That’s what I’ve mentioned before – the recent trend is we want Super Mario, the Nintendo famicom superhero to be part of our daily life. This can be proven again by looking at the effort that someone has spent into carving a Super Mario-inspired Jack-o-lantern, to get ready for the Halloween. Does the Mari-o-lantern look scarier than those regular Jack-o-lanterns from your neighborhood? I think it looks cute and definitely brings more fun. Well, perhaps it defeats its purpose for the Halloween.

So, the Transformer fever still around the corner? Well, at least this happened in China.Three friends in Nanjing have spent three months to build a 4.5 meter tall Transformer, X2, which is based on the Citreon Citroen C2. We’re getting lazier, we have been dreaming that we could only use our voice to control our computers. Just yell at it if you feel your laptop is too slow to respond to your instruction – “Move faster fatso, or else I’ll break you!”. Yeah, how you wish this could come true soon. But, I guess it’ shouldn’t be too far from now.
Researchers at the University of Washington have developed something what has been in your dream for so long. It’s a simple, intuitive piece of software, called Vocal Joystick, which allows you to control computer applications by using your voice only. Vocal Joystick detects sounds 100 times a second and instantaneously turns that sound into movement on the screen. Having it, you can move your mouse by your voice, and it’ll find its way to open your browser to let you surf the Internet and also interact with any other applications.

For those who have been involved in numerous outdoor activities, now you don’t have to tolerate with the bad taste of cold or dry food along your long journey. A foldable cloth oven has just been developed by researchers of Taiwan Textile Institute, which you can simply fold it up and easily carry it around wherever you go. So, anytime when you feel hungry, just unfold it and get it back into shape, then you can start cooking your favorite food in it. The cloth oven weighs only a few hundred grams and the researcher claim that it can reach temperatures over 300 degrees. Meaning you can even make use of it to roast or even bake cookies.
The cloth oven is still in its prototype, which they still have lots of obstacles in front. The main issue is its power source. It needs lots of power in order for it to reach 300 plus degree in temperature. And to achieve it, you need some heavy gas powered generators attached to it. This definitely defeats its purpose for being a portable device. But, if they managed to overcome this problem and pushed it to production run, it’ll definitely become a popular device for the backpackers, campers and soldiers etc. Hope, they won’t make it too pricey.

Intel seems to be pretty aggressive in looking for the next big thing, perhaps the next Google in the Internet cloud. With many thousands of web 2.0 software and applications have mushroomed over the Internet in recent years, Intel has decided to take one step ahead, and created a bookmarking site similar to KillerStartups.com or SimpleSpark.com, which allows public to submit and vote on new up-and-coming applications or companies. This bookmarking website is called Cool Software, which will be the central repository for Intel to predict who is the next Google, before it becomes Google, so their always ready investing arm, Intel Capital, can hit the jackpot at the most right time.
