The 12-port USB hub is like an octopus, in a circular shape which gives each USB port plenty of room. It shouldn’t be a problem to have 12 USB gadgets including those fat and oddly-shaped ones, connected to this USB hub at the same time. Each port has a port number, allows the user to easily identify the connected devices.

There are a number of shorts, such as it’s not bus-powered, it needs external power supplied via a power adapter that connects to the hub by a mini-USB type input plug. Other than that, it also takes up pretty much desk space, considering those sticking-out cables, it’d likely take up about 12 inches of desk space. The octopus-like shape will also present your desk with a little mess.

But rumors seem to tell that Apple would plan to have updates for their OS X Snow Leopard operating system, which the next release would not come with the support of Intel Atom processors. So if you’d proceed for an update of the Mac OS X on your netbook, the consequence could be your Hackintosh’d stop running.

Apple is about to release the updates for two versions of its Snow Leopard OSes, which are the 10.6.2 and 10.5.9. If you own a Hackintosh network, you’d better beware or not to proceed for an update. The OS X 10.6.2 is currently only available as a developer release, but testers have claimed that it’s not compatible with atom processors at all.

Apple’s attempt to kill Hackintosh netbooks could be true, and some more Apple iTablet could be on its way soon and need Apple to build a smooth path for it. Thanks to Apptizr which is going to launch a simple web service that is able to recommend the best iPhone applications based on the user’s interest.

Apptizr is still in its Aplha version, and we’ve been invited to have a preview for the Alpha version of the Apptizr. To use Apptizr to locate the best iPhone applications for you, you must have an account with it. Once you’ve signed into your account, it first prompts you to fill up your interests and the application categories that you’re interested in such as games, utilities, music, social networking, communications etc.

Once you’ve done that, you’ll then be presented with a list of applications that match your interests. You can get the application directly from Apple App Store by clicking the Get It button or you can thumb it up for later consideration of purchase at the “My Apps” tab. And it also tracks those applications that you’ve purchased from Apple App store via Apptizr in the My Apps section, so you won’t mistakenly buy the same app again.

For TechChee readers: As mentioned you need an account to use Apptizr, CEO of Apptizr, Dave is kind enough to have given us an invite code TechCheeXX, which allows the first 50 people to sign up for an account at Apptizr.com. So, hurry up!

The SE Kurara is a smartphone that is based on the 5th edition of Symbian S60 and should be included in the SE’s Entertainment Unlimited line-up which is what the Aino and Satio belong to.

The photos of the SE Kurara obviously shows that it will come with a 3.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, 8.1 megapixel camera, and the word HD at the back should tell that the smart phone is capable of recording video HD.

The Kurara should be announced in the first half of 2010. The Kurara is currently the internal code name, no official name has been given yet so it’d most likely be released under a different name next year.

The TwitterPeek will run you $99 for 6 months of service ($7.95/month thereafter) and $199 with a lifetime of the device service. It allows you to have always-connected view of Twitter over a nationwide of cellular network.

Even though you’ve got a smart phone with Twitter app, you could also make use of TweetPeak, just to lessen the load of your mobile phone, making it more dedicated to calls and texts. And having TwitterPeek dedicated to keep you tweeting on Twitter.

The device is much simpler than using a mobile phone or computer, it has only a full QWERTY, color screen and click scroll wheel. A great gift for your granny so she can be kept busy on Twitter without needing to turn on and use a computer for tweeting. The device is available exclusively on Amazon.com and TwitterPeek.com from Nov 3, 2009.

Here comes another Samsung Android smartphonem, Saturn i6500, which is the fifth Android phone that Samsung has ever produced.

The Samsung Saturn i6500 runs Android 1.5, will come equipped with WiFi connectivity which has been confirmed with its WiFi Interoperability certification. The rest of the features of the Saturn i6500 should be similar to what the Samsung Galaxy i7500 has. Excepts it’s powered by an 800MHz processor instead of a 528MHz one.

The Saturn will come with a 3.2-inch touchscreen display that boasts a resolution of 320×480. Other goodies will be HSPA, GPS, Bluetooth and microSD card slot. Unfortunately, no pictures to show how the Saturn looks like. Hope it won’t carry a ring. The Saturn should be released some time next year (2010) with a price around $442.

The rolltop would come with a flexible OLED touchscreen display. Once it’s fully rolled out, it’d serve as a 13-inch laptop/tablet, or a 17-inch dedicated computer display. The device would also come with a detachable hub with power adapter, a stylus and a couple of USB ports.

This conceptual device shouldn’t be too far from realistic, as OLED technology is getting matured, making one of these flexible screens would not be too difficult in the near future.

Designer, Rochus Jacob has proposed a rocking chair that comes integrated with an OLED lamp which can provide sufficient light for you while you’re rocking in the chair, reading your favorite story. The best is the lamp of this chair is powered by your rocking motion.

Besides, OLED lamp also consumes comparatively low power, making it possible to be powered by little electricity generated by the rocking motion. The chair has advanced nano-dynamo technology built in to the skids that generates electricity for the lamp. OLED technology also allows the lamp to be easily bendable to suit different angles of your reading.

And of course, the OLED reading lamp can be turned off during the day time and the generated power will be stored into the internal battery, which can then power the lamp even you’re not rocking.

And of course, once a credit card expires, it’ll become another plastic waste, which disposing it may bring little harm to the environment. Here comes a conceptual device which aims to replace all your credit cards.

The all-in-one credit card device simply has one end with a memory card slot that allows you to insert a memory card that contains all your CC details. And it has a knob at the other end, which you can simply turn it to choose the wanted card to swipe. The display of the device reflects an identical copy of the front of a credit card, while the back has a magnetic strip that mimics the magnetic strip of a real CC.

The device is just a concept, quite a good idea to reduce plastic waste caused by trashing of CC. But the way of uploading CC details into the device via a memory card, may sound little unsecured. More effort should be put on the encryption of the data loaded on the memory card.

How do I find this Dell Mini 10 netbook? Of course, the screen definitely gives me some problem that will always strain out my eyes. When I’m developing PHP applications (using Notepad++, WAMP and browsers only) on the Dell Mini 10 netbook, I’ll always have to connect an external 19-inch monitor to it in order to have a comfortable screen size. Yes, when using a netbook, screen size is the main problem. Of course, it’ll lose its portability when you always need a bigger screen to connect to it.

The other issue I face on the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 is the performance. I can’t have my RealPlayer running, playing me some lovely songs, while I have a few other applications running such as Notepad++, GIMP etc. Perhaps, I could be the only person who has maxed out a netbook and I’m still using it on quite a number of my daily tasks. To me it’s still tolerable.

A netbook definitely lacks the comfortable screen size and performance that a laptop has. Even Dell CEO doesn’t recommend netbooks despite Dell being one of the biggest suppliers of netbooks. Michael Dell believes that customers will not get long term satisfaction with a Netbook. As they’ll face the screen size and performance problems with a netbook and will definitely want a laptop back after a couple of hours using the netbook. To do that, you have to bring your wife to the doctor’s office for Ultrasound scanning. But now a pocket-sized ultra sound device, GE Vscan makes it exceptional, allows you to have a scan of the baby in the womb anytime.

The GE Vscan ultrasound device looks like a cheap clamshell phone, which has a display that will show you the baby. Although the device is super handy to let you look at what you want, but it shouldn’t be good to do it often as pregnant women are delicate.

Connecting more than one USB hub to your computer to accommodate all your gadgets might make your desk a little messy. But with this 10-port USB hub, it should be enough to hold what you have.

Unfortunately, the USB ports on this 10-port USB hub are too close, which do not provide much space to hold some fat USB gadgets. If you have a couple of those come in weird shapes such as the mooncake USB drive, alien USB drive, you’ll face little problem to plug all them into the 10-port hub as they will need more space between ports.

There is also one worth-mentioning eco-feature of this 10-port hub i.e. the ability to selectively turn on and off for ports from 1-6 and 7-10. So you can make use of the 1-6 ports to connect to PC-centric devices and the 7-10 ports connected to other gadgets such as digital camera, PMP, cellphone chargers etc. This feature eliminates vampire power wasted when your computer is off. The 10-port hub is only meant for Japan, costs 4,980 Yen.

The device has got a few differences from what were said by the rumors.

The Bold 9700 has got a 3.2 megapixel camera, the screen resolution is 480×360 instead of 480×320, and it’s to run the latest BlackBerry OS version 5.0. The 9700 has also taken out the usual trackball found on most previous models of BlackBerrys and replaced it with an optical trackpad that was first started by Curve 8520.

The BlackBerry Bold will support tri-band 900 / 1700 / 2100 and quad-band 800 / 850 / 1900 / 2100MHz 3G, which is a perfect fit for AT&T, T-mobile and a multitude networks in Canada and Europe.

No specific carrier has been announced by RIM for the 9700, but leaving us with teaser claiming that it’ll come to all carriers worldwide in November.

The Dropcam just needs you to hook it up to a power outlet and it supports WiFi connectivity or wired Ethernet, so it can connect to your home wireless or wired network to stream videos to the Internet.

Unlike webcam or other surveillance camera system that will normally need a computer to attach to. Dropcam is completely computer-less, the videos recorded by Dropcam will be streamed via WiFi or Ethernet to the Dropcam Internet Service, which then allows you to watch the video using a Flash-compatible web browser.

Dropcam is capable of recording video at 320×240 pixels at 15 frames/sec and 100 hours of rolling DVR. It weighs only 3 ounces and is about an inch thick. Installation is easy, you just need to connect it to a power outlet. A basic unit of the Dropcam costs $239 which also includes six month subscription of the Dropcam Internet Service. After that, the service costs you a fee of $9/month.

The device is pretty useful for monitoring baby or kids during the day and at night or small business for activity monitoring. It’s got built-in notification system and the company is working on upgrading the system to have notifications via email and SMS.
