Intel seems to be pretty aggressive in looking for the next big thing, perhaps the next Google in the Internet cloud. With many thousands of web 2.0 software and applications have mushroomed over the Internet in recent years, Intel has decided to take one step ahead, and created a bookmarking site similar to KillerStartups.com or SimpleSpark.com, which allows public to submit and vote on new up-and-coming applications or companies. This bookmarking website is called Cool Software, which will be the central repository for Intel to predict who is the next Google, before it becomes Google, so their always ready investing arm, Intel Capital, can hit the jackpot at the most right time.

GIMP, as a free and open source tool, of course, is the first choice of tools that I always use for scaling down or resizing the images to suit my blog posts. Anyway, if you can’t get along with GIMP for some unknown reasons or you don’t stick to a fixed workstation or computer to do your work. Here comes an online, flash-based image resizing tool that you could probably rely on to carry out the image resizing that you need for your blog posts.

When I first learned about Linux back in about 8 years ago, I always had my PC to run multiple operating systems. I still remember that I had maximum 5 OSes on one single PC, which they were the Slackware, Caldera, Redhat, Windows 98 and also Windows NT. Of course, I was pretty proud of my PC at that time that I always conveyed the message about the great product I had among friends.

Google seems to have taken another big step, it has expanded the way for its Google Earth to allow you to zoom into the universe. While it’s still at the earlier version, called Sky instead of Google Universe, allows users to view the skies as seen from the Earth!
The Sky application allows users to explore the universe from the comfort of your chair. Users can zoom in very detailed even up to those galaxies that are many millions light years away. And many exciting moments with the universe such as the constellations, seeing the planets in motion, even witnessing a supernova explosion are all possible with Sky.

I was once pretty hot about Google Gears, having plenty of ideas for developing applications that have ability to go offline using Google Gears. But due to busyness or any other kind of other excuses, what a shame that no much result that I have shown to you guys here.
Anyway, forget about my own exploration on Google Gears. Lets look at some solid applications that have adopted the power of Google Gears. TechCrunch has just reported that, one of the pretty hot contestants for online office application suites, Zoho, has incorporated Google Gears to allow its office suite to have the capability of going offline. Meaning that it allows you to access its apps and data even though your computer is not connected to the Internet.

Skype peer-to-peer network became unstable and suffered a critical disruption on Thursday, August 16th. And Skype put the blame on Microsoft. According to them, the disruption was caused by massive restart of users’ computers across the globe within a short period of time frame as users rebooted after receiving a routine set of patches through Windows update.
The high number of restarts affected Skype’s network resources, such as the flood of log-in requests, exhausted the peer-to-peer network resources, and with several chain reactions that caused a critical impact. Skype’s network supposed to have a self healing function. But due to an early bug, the self-healing function didn’t respond as quick as expected to heal the network, until a critical disruption occurred that caused its service unavailable for the majority of Skype’s users for about two days.
Skype: Microsoft, you better watch out! Look into the possibility of producing some the kind of Windows patches update without the need to restart Windows! Or, if possible, produce the kinda Windows that is fully secure and needs no periodical update! (Sorry, this my own version)

Samsung seems to be pretty aggressive in integrating new applications into cellphones. I really appreciate their work. We’ve learned before couple of new patents from Samsung, such as the cellphone’s antenna as USB charger, or the cellphone itself is flexible enough to be a joystick for game. And what’s more? Samsung, this time is absolutely worth a praise, it’s filing a patent for an application that works on your cell phone that allows you to monitor your wife’s or your GF’s fertility.
