I think quite a number of you also had this bad experience. A domain name that you’ve been eyeing for quite some time, but was stolen a few days after you’d done a WHOIS lookup for its availability. This happened to us, a colleague of mine wanted to register a domain name for a customer. At first she did a check on any of the WHOIS such as the registerfly, cheap-domainnames.com yesterday. What she got was the domain name was available for registration. But she didn’t register the domain name immediately as we needed to get back to the customer to tell them the availability, so we could then get the confirmation and proceed for registration. Unfortunately, when we got the green light and tried to register today, we failed to register it as it’s claimed to have been taken. And I quickly did several WHOIS checks, but couple of them giving me the result only about the domain name has been registered but failed to provide its registrant. Lastly, I managed to get the result from NETWORKSOLUTIONS, which showed that it was just registered yesterday, which I think was a couple of hours after her checking.

The security ring by Yanko Design works exactly like how you’re being “secured” by your spouse using the wedding ring. The concept of this security ring is how you can tie a knot with your computer, and keep it safe and sound. By having one ring on one of your fingers, when you move a certain distance away from the ring’s based station that is connected to your computer. It will be triggered and start locking all the programs and nobody will be able to access your computer anymore. Although you could also do it using your Bluetooth cellphone, but the ring is much handier and it’s always on your finger.

We’ve seen quite a number spy gadgets before, and of course, to some of you, you’ll start getting paranoid, wondering any gift that you’ve recently received is anyone of those that makes your privacy in danger. Since there is such a demand for those spy gadgets, there is also demand for those gadgets that can produce counter effect, i.e a device that allows you to detect any spy gadgets in your living room, bath room etc. Here is a pocket-sized camera detector, which you can carry around anywhere, have it to help you detect any hidden wireless camera. For frequent travelers, this is the best, if you simply feel uneasy with the hotel room that you stay in. At least having it, you’ll now feel much safer, no matter you’re traveling, staying at a friend’s house or staying at home, just have it to hunt down any possible spy cameras. It’s pretty easy to use, just point it to towards walls, ceilings, even those Pringle tins and radio alarm clock. And its alarm will sound when a frequency of 50MHz to 3GHz is detected.

I was working a lot over the Linux server system environment before becoming the manager of the team. I like Linux much better than Windows as the server, due to it’s less virus and hackers prone. Furthermore, the Linux server environment is easier to manage and maintain, if you’re used to command line interface and those shell scripts. Especially I like most is that you can remotely login to manage the servers. I’m not saying Windows no good, but anyway it’s got pretty nice and user-friendly GUI interface. But the only problematic side is it’s too virus and hackers prone. As a user, I did have several bad experience that I deployed a Windows server purely for software development on my home PC. Due to laziness, I didn’t patch it immediately. But too bad was the Windows server got infected by worms and followed by viruses only after a few days of using Internet Explorer for surfing the web!

Instead of having to carry all sort of cash cards with you, isn’t it more convenient that you just bring along a device that represents all your credit cards or debit cards? That device is iCache, which contains the digital replica of “track data” of all your credit cards or debit cards.

Phishing is by far the most common method used for online fraud. Phishing involves sending out legitimate-looking emails that seem to come from a trustworthy website or institution. Phishers normally would create a fake website, which looks like the homepage of a reputable company, e.g PayPal. Then they send out tons of emails to consumers to lure them to login to thier (PayPal) account, in order to capture thier login information for financial again. Phishing not only causes a big loss of to the consumers and also to the company!
