In the robotic era, everything needs to go robotic, even your lovely puppy. Keeping a robotic dog, such as the BJ would be very much easier to handle than a real dog. As you don’t have to be tied down with the hassle of having to clean its waste and mess. For a robotic dog such as BJ, maybe you’d be worried that it’d go malfunctioning one day due to the infection of virus or failure of its operating system. But, no worry, BJ should be quite safe from virus attack or any common OS failures, as it runs on Linux instead of Microsoft Windows. BJ is not cheap, it costs $4,900 for one. But you can save pretty much from the expensive dog food and fee of sending it vet.

Lying in bed and there is a remotely operated robotic hand in the kitchen preparing breakfast for you. While you’re in the bed, just move your own hand for those actions needed for preparing breakfast and the remote robotic hand in the kitchen will copy all your actions to get your breakfast ready and then serve you! Sounds cool! Right?
I hope it all works that way. It’s the magnetic hand glove that has been developed by Akita University of Japan. The glove is to be worn on your hand, which detects movement and converts the exact same actions to a remote robotic hand – lets say to prepare the breakfast for you! The glove is equiped with three onboard axial magnetic sensors that make it remarkably precise in copying movements. The glove even can be used by surgeons to perform robotic surgery over the Internet. Can you imagine that it allows a surgeon to perform open heart surgery while he’s sipping on an umbrella drink in Tahiti?

Blubber bots are the kind of robots that like to float, feed and make friends around. It’s the kind of very light helium filled robot that can fly around just like a balloon. The Blubber bots contain SunSPOT CPUs, which serve as the main processing system for it to response to stimuli such as sound, movement, light and heat etc. It’s also capable of interacting via “conversation” with cellphone signals. It follows “food” and also bellows to one another using high frequency vibration. Just spend $100 then you can own one! It’s kind of fun to play and watch all these sociable robots interacting around

So far, I guess noone really cares much about whether a robot is a male or female. But Tomotaka Takahashi simply had a strong desire to create a female robot in his collection, which he believes that half of the robot population will be famale in the future. He spent about a year of development to produce a female robot, which is called FT. Takahashi had consulted couple of professional fashion models to make it feminine enough to be identified as a female robot. In order for every movement and expression of this female robot to be feminine enough, it contains 23 motors, controlled by an onboard computer, which allows her to walk like a woman.

Robots are not only helpful for our daily tasks, they’re pretty helpful as well at the battlefield. A 6 foot tall robot, called Bear is used at the battlefield to bring back those injured soldiers. In such a case, you wouldn’t have to risk the life of another soldier to go out there at the hot zone, just for the purpose of bringing back an injured soldier. The Bear Battlefield robot is having strong, hydraulic arms, which they can easily carry an injured soldier and bring them back home for treatment.

I think we have a couple of guys here who love beer so much. So, you guys would be eager to know that there is a robot out there, which can pour beer for you and serve you like your best maid. The little robot is called Asahi Robocco BeerBot, looks pretty much like an R2D2, which can automatically open cans of your favorite beer then pour it into a mug and serve you. The robot’s belly works as a mini fridge that can store up to six cans of beer and it’ll dispense it into a mug, when you command it to serve you. This robot was initially available as part of a contest which the beer-maker ran in Japan. But it’s now available for selling all around the globe for just $799 plus another $99 for insured shipping. It comes with instructions both in English and Japanese.

The Hako Robo are the kind of tiny robots where there will be some kind of social interaction among them when placed together. There are pretty interesting interaction among these little cube-shaped robots, such as they’ll follow each other around, run away from each other, protect each other, even pissed off and fed up with one another if they’re together for too long. The common set of these bots will make up of a mum, a pop and a little puppy. The kind of interaction simply reminds me the CubeWorld, where those little men can interact with one another.
