Single Interface for all – The older version of AudialsOne was split into a number of tools including RadioTracker, TuneBite, and VideoRaptor which tracks audio, removes DRM and searches and downloads videos and MP3s from online video sites like YouTube respectively. The reviewer at MobileCrunch deems Navigon app on iPhone is as good as any hardware GPS device. The app presents a fully-featured North American GPS system with an intuitive interface and NAVTEQ maps. It has a fun UI which shows large, bold directions, upcoming street signs, and a little horizontal line as the representation of the direction you’re headed to. It’s also got a voice prompt to tell you how far you’re from your destination.

The application uses iPhone UI to select addresses but falls into Navigon UI to show the directions. The app has all the maps, which is great if you’re driving through a dead zone. This app works with the GPS chip of the iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS. It also allows you to grab addresses from your contact list. In short, Navigon Mobile Navigator app makes your iPhone a GPS device. It’s also a hint that smartphones one day will take over every small device with dedicated function.

The Engadget team has had their hands-on on the Zune HD. And they’ve found the device really rocks, especially with the OLED screen, which presents severe viewing angles, super-bright colors, crisped edges and beautiful-looking text. While in the hands,the Zune HD gives a solid feel, with good heft to it and surprisingly thin.

The Zune HD’s interface is great as well, presents easiness of flipping images, scaling text, smooth scrolling and very smooth on simple visual navigation and there was no hiccups with the OS throughout their hands-on process, but they’ll continue to do more things on the OS.

Although USB monitors are pretty common these days, but you may wanna save your pocket, looking for cheaper solution for hooking up one or more monitors to your computer via the USB ports. So you could have multiple displays to carry out multiple tasks simultaneously. The ViBook Tronic USB video card will be the solution, if you want a quick, easy and cheaper way to hook up one or more monitor displays to the USB ports.

The ViBook device is actually an DVI to USB adapter. The company seems pretty smart, having given it a cool name, called the ViBook USB video card. Basically, there are quite a number of such devices out there in the market and most of them come with a cheaper price tag.

But they’re much lower-end than this ViBook adapter. Such as the cheapest will normally come with NO Mac support (Windows only), max out of 1280 x 1024, and provide analog VGA output only. Those higher-priced have support for Mac, with resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 or 1680 x 1050 and provide DVI support. But with this ViBook adapter you get the features of all.

The ViBook USB video card comes with various adapters to suit different types of monitor. Its outer look is a small rectangular black box, with one end is the DVI male connector and the other end is a USB cable. If you don’t have a DYI-equipped display, no worry, it does include a DVI to VGA adapter cable. If you have a VESA-capable flat panel display, you can opt to use the plastic VESA mount and use the provided mounting screws to stick it to the back of the monitor.

Besides the price tag, other shorts of this device are no support of video acceleration, motion display not smooth, HDTV support limited to 480p, HDMI support needs the HDMI to DVI adapter, which is not included and it does NOT support Linux.

The OLED keys are meant for people to create shortcuts to access certain functionalities of applications or quick launch of applications. Such as you need to use Photoshop very often on your computer, so you can then make use of these OLED keys to setup the quick-launch keys for the most commonly used functions that you need on Photoshop.

This keyboard comes with driver that has been tested working fine on Windows XP, but it was reportedly to have failed on Vista Ultimate 64-bit, which the maker is now looking for a solution for it. It also comes with a setup software which allows you to customize your icons on the OLED keys and also setup each key for the function or action you want it to be associated with.

Customizing your own icons using those free icons on the web seems to be pretty unfriendly with this keyboard, which is due to the OLEDs are only in 1-bit depth. Some more, the software is not intuitive enough, making it to take some times for a user to grasp. For example, the software must be minimized in order for the the OLED keys to work. Some more it doesn’t provide any icon examples.

But the software allows some cool setup for those keys. You can even setup several layers of keys. Such as you have one layer for FireFox, one layer for Internet Explorer, and another layer for PhotoShop. Each key can be set up associated with an action, which can be to emulate a key or to launch an application or to work as the layer-changing key. Perhaps a little miss is the option to change process instead of launching a new one.

The software has an option for a ‘color’ key but it’s disabled. Apparently, this is reserved for the future versions of the keyboard. As mentioned, this OLED keyboard is meant to help you speed up your work, be more productive and a time saver. Imagine, if you have a couple of applications that you use regularly on your computer, these OLED keys help for quick access to those common functions or launches.

Armado is the first release developed and released under their new company, Tricky Software’s banner, which they shall have invested lots of effort into it to make it to work best for you. The Armado shall give you pretty good impression according to the reviewer, which the two early good ones that can be expected from this 3D game are the pleasant initial menu screen that greets you with a nice soundtrack and professionally cut and narrated scenes and backstory while you’re stepping into the game levels.

In the game, you’re an armadillo which you need to save some eagles from those ants. You’ll have to move up and down a mountain but you’re restricted to move forwards and backwards only. To do this, you can only tilt the iPhone. Tapping on the iPhone screen lets you jump to avoid obstacles. Tap twice results in a double jump. Jumping on enemies seems to be pretty hard, even though you can prolong your stay in the air by tilting the device.

The company claims the game fully utilizes the capabilities of the iPhone and iPod Touch. But if you’ll need to spend some effort to get used to the controls then you’ll start getting some fun of it. The game is available on Apple App Store only $4.99 only.

MetroCPS only charges $159 for the ZTE C79 flip phone, which is completely contract-free with no strings attached. EngadgetMobile has got their hands on the ZTE C79 flip. On the negative side, the C79 feels like a cheap phone, it’s kind of bulky but it feels pretty light, which might be too light that you would think it’s just a piece of cheap plastic. The external music controls of this phone are unnecessarily small, but the volume can be adjusted via the earpiece during calls and the sound was pretty muddy.

On the positive side, the keypad is large enough with easy-to-press buttons, which gives no problems at all to even fattest fingers. The screens are bright and reasonably colorful, which has a resolution of 220X176, that is pretty comfortable on a low-end device like that. The hinge of this flip phone is pretty solid, which is unlike other low-end devices that hinge is always the weakness – easily breakable.

You’ll also find other mid-range features on the C79 flip phone, including microSD expansion and stereo Bluetooth etc.

The Motorola Krave ZN4 supports the Verizon 3G services including TV and music. Verizon also includes a couple of other great services such as mobile email, GPS, speaker independent voice dialing and also the visual voicemail.

This phone has a standard 3.5mm headphone jack which allows users to use any headphones to listen to music and enjoy the TV. Somemore it supports stereo Bluetooth which lets you grab music over it wirelessly. The device has a microSDHC card slot that has been tested capable of supporting up to 8GB cards, which is more than sufficient to store your music files and those photos taken with the phone’s 2 megapixel camera.

The Krave ZN4 comes with a Ming-inspired front-flip. The flip is transparent and also touch-sensitive too which needn’t be opened for controlling the phone. Some other minor functionalities can be done on the closed flip itself without opening it up, such as reading messages, controlling your music playback, and navigating the roads with VZ Navigator. Some more viewing photos and watching TV on the closed flip are also possible. Other operations such as writing messages, buying music, or navigating the main menu need you to open the flip. There is also a lock button, which prevents getting mistakenly touched while the phone is in a pocket.

The touchscreen itself is a WQVGA display that boasts a resolution of 400×240 pixel and is highly sensitive to touch that needs users to have light touches only. And the feedback is great, which provides vibration haptic feedback when touched.

The UI is also pretty interactive, with the built-in accelerometer, the phone rotates its screen automatically to suit your viewing for apps like browser, virtual keyboard and mobile TV. The virtual keyboard will switch itself to 12-key keypad and full QWERTY for portrait and landscape modes respectively. The browser app is worth-mentioned here as it’s sensitive to touch on hyperlinks by your fingertips only, which presents easiness to use. The browser also supports Flash, which is just good enough for viewing YouTube’s video.

The Krave ZN4 weighs 130g, which isn’t that lightweight but it’s a great phone for those who need tons of functionalities. Its battery can last over 4 hours of talk time and 20 days on standby. The ZN4 comes in a dark gray color scheme with soft-touch paint around the back and a polished metal frame on the front face.

VistaStartMenu 3.0 is a software that adds easiness for you to locate the menus on your Windows Start. In short, the Vista Start Menu is the convenient alternative to your plain Windows start menu. The very basic method by VistaStartMenu 3.0 is making use of visual memory (the ability to memorize images and locations of objects) or reflexes of a human brain, so you can then automatically memorize and locate a menu much more quickly.

The VistaStartMenu 3.0 also offers the great Single-Click launch. This feature is to identify which program in a folder is the main program that you always launch. And after learning that, it’ll use the icon of the main program for the folder. This allows you to easily locate the program that you wanna access in a highly visualizable manner.

For example in the original Windows start menu, to access Winamp, you’ll need to get to the Winamp folder to launch the Winamp program. And normally it takes some times for you to locate the Winamp folder as it’s simply represented by only a plain “folder” icon.

But if you’ve enabled the Vista Start Menu 3.0, now you can more easily locate where the Winamp folder is, as it’s now associated with the Winamp icon that attracts your eyes easily.

The VistaStartMenu also offers various flexibilities such as enlarging the font size, resizing the entire start menu, adding, grouping, editing menus, drag and drop the start menu around your desktop, adding tabs onto to bottom of the start menu as short cuts to various functions and you even can designate keys of your keyboard to the menus for quick access.

The flagship phone of the G series is the Sony Ericsson G900 and it’s been given a review by PhoneArena despite the phone still has some bugs and problems with its firmware and hardware. The SE G900 is based on the Symbian UIQ without making it too hard to use. It offers intuitive work and the OS gives it a better organizing options.

The G900 is similar to the earlier model, G700, in the G line, which is also equipped with a touchscreen which allows you to write or draw notes on. The SE G900 comes with a high-res camera of 5 megapixel and supports WiFi, which seems to imitate the latest digital camera technologies that allow you to shoot quality photos, upload and share it on the Internet.

The package includes great accessories such as handsfree, charger, data cable, additional stylus, software CD, and manual etc. The SE G900 boasts a super slim body which measures only 0.5 inch for its slimness. Some more it’s super lightweight, making it pretty easy to be carried around in a pocket. The touchscreen is 2.4 inch wide and has a resolution of 240×320 pixels. The color it offers seems pale but it’s still kind of usable even under direct sunlight. The touch sensitivity is great but the touch feedback is only available in sound but no vibration, which isn’t convenient when used under noisy environment.

It comes with a pretty short stylus, but it seems giving no much problem as the touchscreen of this cellphone is meant more for inputting text via handwriting recognition, and not for navigation. You’ll get navigational buttons are under the touchscreen, surrounding the 5-way D-pad and are used for going back, delete and shortcuts to the functions important for the model – writing of notes and message.

On the right side of the phone, you’ll find volume controls, the key for locking the display and the keyboard (simultaneously) and the camera shortcut. They all seem to have a short drive and look cheap, making them inconvenient to use.

On the left side, you’ll find the the charger connector, LED (to show missed calls, messages and as charging indicator when constantly lit) and the M2 card slot. The card slot seems to need you to remove the back lit in order to reach it, which is pretty inconvenient. Overall, the reviewer is happy with the cellphone despite it’s still got some glitches and still waiting for SE to patch it.

When you’ve uploaded the file, you’ll then be presented with options for what widget type that you wanna create. At the moment, the options for the widget type including a tabular, animated bar chart, animated pie chart, line chart, area chart and text cloud widget.

The last few steps are to deal with the design, layout of the widget you’ve just created before publishing them. After you’ve done all that, now you’re ready to publish the widget, which you can options such as embedding it on your blog (Lets say for wordpress, you’ll need to copy and paste the code onto your wordpress blog), send it as a hyperlink to your friends, send it to iGoogle, Blogspot, and Facebook etc.

In your Widgenie account, you’ll also get a Statistic section that allows you to track the usage of those widgets that you;ve created for the daily and monthly usage. As mentioned, Widgenie is still in its BETA version, which currently supports only the uploaded EXCEL or CSV files. Eventually, Widgenie will have more options to include external data on widgets, such as data feeds or your blog and news feeds.

The SimpleMail Firefox extension can be downloaded here. Just install as what you did with other Firefox extensions. After your installation then you’ll be able to configure it for receiving emails from various of your POP3 or IMAP accounts. Just go to “Tools”, and then “Add-On”, you will see the SimpleMail is now listed in your list of extensions. Just click on the options, and proceed to add your POP3/IMAP email accounts.

The setup process is similar to setting up a usual IMAP/POP3 email client such as Mozilla Thunderbird or MS Outlook. Just proceed to “Add” a new account, with couple of the information such as account login name, and the IMAP/POP3 server name and port. And you can also setup the SMTP too on the third tab for using it to send emails.

After all the setup is done, the next step of course is to open the SimpleMail client to start receiving and sending your emails. It did take me some times to figure out how to access and fire up the SimpleMail client. As I was first looking around on the Firefox browser’s menus, but I couldn’t find any menu that directs me to the SimpleMail. And I was thinking of it could be some bugs or my installation could be incomplete.

But soon, I noticed there was a little email icon at the right bottom corner of the Firefox browser. Just click on the icon (or right click on it to show you a menu of options), the SimpleMail will pop up, and you can then start receiving emails from those configured email IMAP/POP3 accounts.

The I Dose website delivers the so-called Binaural Beats, which are said to affect brainwaves, and will give stimulation of you in different states, such as changing your moods, behavior and consciousness etc. I’ve tried a few of them, streamed over and played. While played using the built-in speakers of my laptop, I could only grab the little soothing effect. The site recommends to use a pair of headphones for the best effect.

Yeah, I’ve got hold of my headphones now, and playing the beat “Inspiration and Creativity”, which is claimed to stimulate inspiration and creativity. It’s like a jungle beat, but I don’t like the background sound which sounds like some kind of machinery or a turbine, which is running at a growing frequency before it settles down at a steady rate. Sorry, I don’t like this beat that much, as it makes me shivering a bit.

I’ve tried a few of them, such as Relaxation, Meditation and Lucid Dreams. Most of them come with a background sound that runs at certain frequencies which I don’t feel comfortable with it. The Meditation beat sounds not bad, except the background tone which is kind of disturbing to me. Check it out yourself at I Dose if you wanna have a try, or perhaps some of them will really relax your mind and boost your mood. But it could turn out to be the negative effect, as I mentioned the background tones make me shivering….Thanks Keinan
