The Samsung Galaxy S III has been officially announced. The new specs at a quick read are new 1.4GHz Exynos 4 Cortex-A9 quad-core chips, a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display with 720 x 1280 (306ppi) resolution, an 8MP rear camera with full HD (1080p) video recording, a 1.9MP front-facing camera with 720p HD video recording and more after the jump.

Meizu is ahead of any other smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung, LG, having rolled out the world’s first quad-core Exynos chip-powered smartphone, known as the Meizu MX. The Meizu MX is an Android smartphone which shows close resemblance to the Apple iPhone. And it’s powered by the Cortex-A9-based 32nm HKMG (High-K Metal Gate) quad core Samsung Exynos chip.

Samsung will be holding an event in London on May 3rd and the company has sent out invites with the tag line that reads “Come and meet the next Galaxy”, as shown above. Thus, the Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone will very likely be launched on the May 3rd.

Pantech has announced the second generation of its smartphone Pantech Vega Racer. The Pantech Vega Racer 2 is the first smartphone that comes in a ceramic body. It packs a 4.8-inch 720p HD display and is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 processor that’s possibly clocked at 1.5GHz.

Fans of the Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone should have been waiting for the next-generation of the device which is Samsung Galaxy SIII. The SIII has an image leaked before its official announcement. Although there have been a couple of leaks showing slightly different designs but this one seems to look more official and promising.

HTC has a budget Android 4.0 device in its line which is known as HTC Golf. The HTC Golf smartphone is said to be powered by a sub-gigahertz processor which is most probably a 800MHz processor or something similar.

Nokia has shown off its PureView technology at MWC 2012, which is a pretty interesting technology that allows a smartphone to have a 41-megapixel camera and run Symbian Belle. And Nokia has confirmed that the PureView will be headed to new Windows Phone smartphones but no indication when those WP phones will get it.

There have been lots of Android 4.0 ICS smartphones unveiled at MWC 2012. Other than those big brands like HTC, LG, ZTE and Japanese Fujitsu, a Chinese phone maker known as Tianyou has also unveiled its new Android 4.0 ICS smartphone which is known as K-Touch Treasure V8.
