What’s in the mind of Samsung? They’ve just applied for the patent for a Clamshell phone to also work as a joystick. Not too sure, how this is going to work. But in the attached picture, it shows that the hinge between the screen and the keypad is flexible enough, to let you hold the keypad portion to twist it to and from many angles. Which is exactly how a joystick works for gaming. My guess is this would be a wireless joystick that works either in a Bluetooth or WiFi manner or even wired via USB cable, to communicate with your game console. I appreciate what Samsung has done. They seem to be contributing plenty of ideas to twist around the body of the cellphone, just like what they’d done last month, patented the antenna of the cellphone to work as a USB charger.

If you have been thinking of taking part in the Second Life virtual world, but haven’t done so so far, due to your computer is too slow. And you have no budget to have a big jump for the upgrade of your computer. No worry, there is a pretty light weight web application out there that lets you access the basic functionalities in Second Life. I like this this light-weight web app pretty much as it’s written in Ajax. It’s called AjaxLife and it’s product of a student, Katharine Berry. Having it, you can have your web browser to login to your Second Life account and to access the basic map, teleporting, local chat and instant messaging. The AjaxLife can be accessed here.

It’s a good news for Sony PSP gamers, the new version of the PSP will double up as your cell phone or vice versa. Those documents from the FCC has unveiled that Sony Ericsson is indeed developing a cellphone based on their portable gaming handheld, the PSP. The future handset of Sony Ericsson will allow you to play those gorgeous-looking games as well as keeping in touch with the world. Furthermore, this handset can also hook up to the PS3 PlayStation console and used as a controller. Other features expected to be included are digital camera, rotating LCD display etc. One thing Sony needs to look into seriously for this cell phone before its actual release is its battery life. As you know, juice easily dries up when gaming.

Datel Drive Doctor is a little device, which works as a bridge between your Wii and PC, so you can connect your Wii to your PC via the PC’s USB port. But before doing this, you need to have some soldering work to get this little device attached to your Wii. Why do you have to care about connecting your Wii to your PC’s USB port? Simply for the sake you’re too curious about how your Wii works or you’re too smart wanna add on all sorts of cheats and enhancement, so you can get to view the Wii’s data streams in real time. Perhaps, from that on, you’d get to learn building some homebrew, mods etc. It costs you only $35, which is the little device you need for kick-start with some homebrew on Wii.

Good news for Xbox gamers, it seems like there is a possibility to convert your Xbox 360 into a portable one, just like a notebook. This isn’t officially confirmed yet. A product by peripheral company, Hori, which they’d likely release Compact TFT Monitor EX, an LCD that you can easily connect to your Xbox 360. As shown in the attached picture, when the LCD is affixed on top of your Xbox 360, it will become a portable game machine, which you can just bring along anywhere you go.
The 12 inch monitor outputs 720p and takes its signal from Xbox 360 via the analogue RGB cables. It’s got two speakers below the monitor for sound, and it’s also has headphone jack, which you can plug in your headphones. The only downside is there is a need to find power source for your Xbox 360 and also the monitor, which makes it isn’t truely portable. The monitor is expected to come with its own AC power adapter. Furthermore, to carry it around, you’ll need to find a bag, which is big enough to hold the two. It looks pretty much thicker than any normal laptop bag can fit. It’ll be made available in Japan, most likely in July and it will cost around $310.00. It seems like Microsoft also has plan for a portable Xbox 360, I guess adding on the Hori’s monitor should be much cheaper than getting a new portable 360.
