The HD 5970 clams two 5800 series chipsets on one card to provide the best performance.

Each GPU has the equivalent speed of a 5850 with a 725MHz primary clock speed, and also clams 1GHz GDDR5 memory, the 3,200 stream (effects) processors, 160 texture units and the 2GB of memory provides it as much performance as two 5850s but takes only half the space.

The HD 5970 also features CrossFire mode, allows two 5970 cards combined together delivering a processing power of equivalent to 4 GPUs for games that support it. The 5970 graphics card was made based on the newer 40nm manufacturing process, allows it to consume relatively low power.

Features such as DirectX 11, OpenGL 3.2 remain intact, and has been added with support for Eyefinity with three displays and OpenCL computing for platforms that support them. The 5970 has two dual-link DVI ports and one DisplayPort output.

The 5970 cards are most ready for highly demanding HD games, and available now from third parties such as Asus, Diamond and MSI. Each runs you about $599.
A new GPS application for Sony PSP was demonstrated by Zenrin at CEATEC 09. The Zenrin GSP app for PSP allows the map view in 2D mode but it automatically switches into 3D mode when arriving to a complex intersection to provide detailed models of the surrounding and a clear path. The PSP GPS app may also be useful for kids to easily find their way home by simply using the PSP in their hands. Or it could be helpful too for tourists who’re game addicts.

And now Sony is rolling a new 250GB version of the PS3 Slim, which comes with a 250GB hard disk drive.

The existing PS3 Slim comes with a 120GB HDD. The new PS3 slim will bundle a game and of course the 250GB that gives more than double of storage capacity. The game to be included is the Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Edition which is worth about $460. The 250GB version of the PS3 Slim has been shown off at the 2009 Tokyo Game Show and due in mid December.

The PS3 Slim 250GB is first intended for Japan only. There is no clear indication whether it’ll make its way out of Japan. Just a note about the PS3 Slim, it was a big hit which managed to reach a whopping 1 million units sold worldwide in just three weeks.

This new LG remote control will also come with the traditional channel and volume control buttons. And it offers extra, which is you can point the remote control to a TV to control on-screen menus and games.

The remote can place a cursor on the TV screen, which can be manipulated by simply flicking your wrist. It sounds pretty much like you use a Wiimote to play a Wii Tennis game on the TV screen. This LG magic remote control will go on sale next year, but LG has not decided if to bundle the magic remote with high-end LG TVs.

The Logitech G27 has been given a luxurious make-over. The wheel is covered by a hand-stitched leather which offers better handling for traction loss, weight shift and surface of the road.

The G27 also features quiet steering and helical gears making the steering action exceptionally quiet and all unwanted noise and vibration have been virtually removed. There are also the 6-speed gear shifter, brake and clutch pedals that make heel-and-toe braking possible and couple of LEDs showing RPM and shift indication. The Logitech G27 racing wheel is expected to hit Europe and USA for a price of $300 next month.

When a gamer plays racing game using the iPhone, the user needs to hold the iPhone up in the air for the entire session of the racing game. Of course, this will give lots of stress to the arms of the users. One of the two steering wheels produced by CTA Digital is to address the stress problem faced by user while playing the racing game on iPhone.

One version of the CTA steering wheels comes with a base that has a suction cup mount which allows you to attach it on a tabletop or other flat surface. This will eliminate the tiredness of your arms of having to lift the iPhone up for playing the game.

But the other version of the steering wheels might give more pressure to your two hands. As it has no suction base which you’ll have to hold the wheel in the air, plus the weight of the iPhone, you’d run into risk of breaking your arms. No word on pricing yet for these two wheels. But some guess that it could be priced around $20-$30. Video of the wheel in action is attached below:

But most of us, especially when working on something that needs your full concentration will normally not blink the eyes. And this is not good, eventually your eyes will get too strained and you may lose your eyesight one day.

Japan’s Masunaga Optical Manufacturing has found a way to help protect the eyesights of computer users. They’ve created the Wink glasses which force the wearer to blink every 5 seconds. The Wink glasses are equipped with a sensor which detects how long you have gone without blinking and if the time passes the 5-second mark, it’ll automatically fog up the glass panel to block your eyesight until you blink again.

The Wink glasses will hold eight-hour charge and it can be hooked up to the USB port as an alternative power source. Slated to hit Japan market on August 10th for 15,750 yen ($150).

The Eye webcam will come with four microphones, two zoom levels, and capture as high as 120fps. This webcam is meant to enhance gameplay on the Sony PlayStation game console. And Sony has plan to add new facial recognition capabilities to its Sony PlayStation Eye webcam. Sony said that their new PlayStation Eye webcam for their console, will be able to detect gender and even tell the age of the face.

The webcam will also be able to differentiate special facial features, such as nose, eyes and ears and is even smart enough to know if you’re smiling or not. With this webcam to work with the Sony PlayStation game console, the gamers should be able to use their facial expressions or let different faces control gaming etc.

Some more, the PS Eye webcam will also work with the Sony Motion Controller, with the Eye camera tracking the X, Y and Z motion by using the glowing sphere. However the motion controller is also equipped with accelerometer which is able to track motions as well while the gamer is outside of the Eye camera.

In order for games to tap on the Eye camera capabilities, developers must add this new functionality in their future game titles. Developer libraries will be available for game development studios to ease their development to include support for the Eye cam in their titles. Note: The PS Eye webcam will hit the stores, bundled with Hasrbo’s RPG / card game The Eye of Judgment on October 23rd, for a low price of $69.99 only.

If the game console is left on or even on standby mode, it will still consume some significant amount of electricity and of course this will go to your bills.

TrickleSaver is a little device that can help, if you always forget to turn off your game console. Just plug in your TV and your game console into the TrickleSaver. When you turn off the TV, the TrickleSaver will recognize that the TV has been turned off and will then turn the game console off.

The TrickleSaver costs $35, which sounds a bit overpriced. But it should save pretty much of your bills in long run. Just roughly count how many times that you’ve forgotten to turn off the game console before, then you’ll know how much it could save for you.

Bandai’s pedometer has a different approach, it also works as a calorie counter and some more it comes with a Samurai game that may encourage you to challenge yourself and exercise more.

The game on the Bandai pedometer, presents you a Samurai-era storyline. You can then choose to be a character out of the three famous daimyo from the Sengoku, or Warring States Period and take your foot soldiers out to the battlefield. So, the more you walk or jog, the more you will get to attaining the full control of Japan (in the game).

This should be a pretty interesting device, but it’d be better if it could offer some kind of competitiveness, plotting chart of achievement of all the users on a website.

Just hook it up it to your giant HDTV at home, you can then start playing the included sports games with its wireless 3D motion-sensing controller. The five games included are the dancing (aka Hot Dance), fishing, bowling, golf and tennis. Unlike the Wii, this China-made game console only allows you to play the five included games. It does not offer the flexibility that a Wii does.

The Conny Q3 comes in either blue or pink. It’s stuffed with a 32-bit CPU, is highly portable, runs on three AA batteries only and claims to consume ultra low power. And you also need two AA batteries for the remote controller. Below is a video clip that shows the Conny Q3 sports game console in action.

With this WiFiPad installed on your iPhone, it will then become a wireless game controller for the games on your computer.

WiFiPad makes use of WiFi connection to communicate with the computer, allows you to wirelessly control the video games and use the keyboard of the computer. The application also allows you to customize your own controller on the iPhone, such as defining keys and the controller layout etc. Or you can build a remote keyboard on the iPhone for your computer.

Launch the WifiPad desktop server application on the computer (Mac and Windows versions), set your preferred key mappings for each game, you’ll then be able to control those games on the iPhone or iPod Touch touch screen. It’s kinda easy to setup.

Of course, it lacks of the tactile feedback of a real keyboard or game controller. But it’s fun to control the video games on the computer over WiFi. Some more it’s a free app, which can be downloaded from iTunes.
