The 12-port USB hub is like an octopus, in a circular shape which gives each USB port plenty of room. It shouldn’t be a problem to have 12 USB gadgets including those fat and oddly-shaped ones, connected to this USB hub at the same time. Each port has a port number, allows the user to easily identify the connected devices.

There are a number of shorts, such as it’s not bus-powered, it needs external power supplied via a power adapter that connects to the hub by a mini-USB type input plug. Other than that, it also takes up pretty much desk space, considering those sticking-out cables, it’d likely take up about 12 inches of desk space. The octopus-like shape will also present your desk with a little mess.

They’ll definitely prefer a car to come with engine sounds that are loud enough to get their bloodstream boiling. Some could have done it by installing additional accessories on the exhaust pipe simply for the sake of simulating exciting engine sounds. But this would not be a good idea to do it for your brand new car.

Luckily now we have a much simpler solution to simulate the great V8 engine sounds in your overly silent car. By plugging the Sound Racer FM transmitter into your car’s cigarette lighter socket. The Sound Racer will then produce the sports car engine sounds that will get you to feel that you’re in a big race.

The Sound racer does not simply blast some non-sense engine sounds, it does go accordingly to your car engine RPM. It’s been designed to be able to sense and calculate the car engine RPM and produce the sounds of a powerful Super Sports Car engine. The sound changes as you drive and SoundRacer even increases the speed of the engine sound even you drive at a normal speed to get you the exciting engine sounds.

The device is simply an FM transmitter which transmits the engine sounds to your car stereo. While you’re not in the mood of hearing any engine sounds, you can use it as a standard FM transmitter for MP3 players, which you can hook up an iPod or iPhone through its line-in input for sending tunes to the car stereo. Unfortunately, it does not have a USB input or memory card slot for playing tunes on a USB drive or memory card.

First among the USB flash drives, having clung the USB 3.0 standard is the Super Talent USB 3.0 flash drive and promises transfer rates of up to 320MB/sec.

The Super Talent USB 3.0 flash drive is expected to be available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. And of course you will need to have a computer that comes with the USB 3.0 ports to enjoy the high speeds of up to 200MB/sec. If you want the top speed 320MB/sec on USB 3.0 port, you need a separate UAS Protocol driver to achieve that.

The drive can also work on USB 2.0 port but operates at slower speeds. Anyway, no word for the price and release date.

Some more the Zinc-Air costs less to manufacture, safer and friendly to the user and environment.

The Zinc Air battery simply sucks the oxygen from room air to generate current. Air and zinc are the electrodes, making zinc air safer than lithium-ion batteries as no volatile materials contained within that could possibly catch fire.

Zinc Air was developed by Norway firm, SINTEF and being marketed by ReVolt. The prototype been designed to fit smaller form factor and power-hungry mobile gadgets. It’d also be made for automobile industries in the form of rechargeable battery packs for electric vehicles.

The two companies are still striving to improve the recharging cycle counts of the battery before getting it to the next step. ReVolt is hoping the Zinc could reach at least 500 recharging cycles to be more solid to kick Lithium Ion battery away.

Hitachi is no exceptional, currently working with Canesta and GestureTek for a new line of television that will be able to recognize the user’s hand gestures.

Using hand gestures to control the TV set eliminates the need of remote control. This of course provides more handiness to the users which waving of hands only allows you to operate the TV. No more fighting for remote control among couple and family members. And also no more misplace of TV remote control.

The two mentioned companies that work with Hitachi, have their own roles in bringing the gesture-controlled TV sets to reality. GestureTek is basically focused on software that is able to recognize hand gestures and defines which gestures control which TV functions.

Canesta is responsible for the hardware that captures 3D image of the hand of the audience, so the system can differentiate between your hand and a picture of your hand.

The Hitachi gesture-controlled TV would allow each user to have their own setting of hand commands stored in it. It’s always wise for a user to set some simple enough gestures for switching channels or jumping to your favorite channels. So you can always be ahead of your partner for doing so. Watch the demo in the video below.

The scent signal contained in the sweat will tell if a person is scared. The scientists have carried out study on the underarm secretions of 20 terrified novice skydivers, and they have proven that the smell of the sweat reflected their fears.

The fear detector would be best used to identify terrorists or those who have committed wrongdoing at checkpoints. Currently, the researchers have got only a prototype of this device. They still have some obstacles to overcome such as it’ll not give reliable detection for those who wear perfumes or who with weird body odors.

The latest technology is to deal with scanning your entire face, which is definitely much more secure as no one will be able to easily duplicate your face.

Here comes the FaceID, a face recognition dock access system, that allows you to unlock your door using your face. The FaceID is able to store up to 500 faces in its database. It has a pair of cameras that capture the 3D image of your face and then uses face detection algorithm to match those faces in the database.

The 3D image recognition system also makes it hard for anyone simply uses a photo to deceive the system. It also works in dim or low-lighting conditions, which shouldn’t be a problem for those who always get home late. The system is available and can be purchased from ChinaVasion, but the price tag of $447 may put many of you off. It’s also suitable for offices, can be replacement for card systems as it also takes care of time attendance.

Please note the FaceID does not come with an electronic door lock, so you have to pair it up with one. It should be a reliable system to safeguard your home and claims to have a margin of error of 0.0001%. The very little percentage of error could probably be caused by your twin brother who has face closely resembles yours.

A new kind of fabric called the Sonic Fabric which is made from 50% colored thread and 50% recorded audio cassette tape. And this fabric has been used to make some neckties, which can carry some tunes and you can even listen to the tunes on the neckties.

To listen to the incomplete or scrambled tunes on the neckties, what you need to is to sacrifice an old walkman. Take the front cover off, stick the magnetic playhead out with helps of some glue and clothespin, plug in headphones into the walkman, rub the playhead along the surface of your necktie. Watch the clip below how it’s done.

These audible neckties will run you $90, but they may be useful when you’ve got too bored with your days, which you can then ready your screw drivers, sabotage an old walkman and listen to some tunes on the neckties.

At least it doesn’t have to bind the users with wires that may hinder certain usability. Here comes a wireless USB digital microscope which is handy enough for you to bring around your work and living space to observe any microscopic life around. The wireless microscope transmits the captured images back to its receiver via the 2.4GHz wireless frequency.

The receiver/cradle also has a simple switch that allows you to choose one of the four available frequencies for wireless transmission. The microscope is able to magnify object from 10x to 200x and comes equipped with 8 white LEDs around lens which add more illumination power. You can have the microscope to go up to 2m away from its cradle while the cradle is connected to your computer’s USB port.

The wireless microscope has also a built-in Li-ion battery which can be recharged by sending the scope back to its cradle. The wireless microscope has been tagged with pretty high price, which will run you $140.

The Air Board is super expensive costs you a whopping $14,000. If you have extra bucks to burn, this is best gadget that can let you have hovering experience that is usually seen in sci-fi movies only.

Air Board can stay four feet above the ground when it’s up and travel at a speed at about 15 miles per hour. The consumption of Air Board on gasoline is huge as well. It has a tank that carries 1.3 gallon of gasoline but it can burn through in just an hour. Be prepared for extra bucks for gasoline, if you wanna continue to have fun with Air Board.

Anyway, to hover on the Air Board, you’ll need to find a space that is big enough with no or very few obstacles. Places such as skateboard park, football field should be suitable for you to drive Air Board around.

To avoid repeating the same mistake, it’s best to wear a super tiny earpiece that could even go invisible while it stays within your ear.

Here comes an Invisible Bluetooth spy earpiece, which is super tiny and stays completely invisible while it’s within your ear. The picture below clearly shows the difference between a regular wired earpiece and the Invisible Bluetooth spy earpiece.

This super tiny Bluetooth earpiece is able to pair up with any cellphones.
The invisible earpiece was originally designed for secret service. But it’d be useful for your first date as well, which you could wear this invisible earpiece, and secretly receive instruction from your private instructor on how you could handle your first date best. Worry about that it’d get stuck in your ear? The removal is super easy, you can easily remove it with the included strong magnets.
