WiFiPad makes use of WiFi connection to communicate with the computer, allows you to wirelessly control the video games and use the keyboard of the computer. The application also allows you to customize your own controller on the iPhone, such as defining keys and the controller layout etc. Or you can build a remote keyboard on the iPhone for your computer.

Launch the WifiPad desktop server application on the computer (Mac and Windows versions), set your preferred key mappings for each game, you’ll then be able to control those games on the iPhone or iPod Touch touch screen. It’s kinda easy to setup.

Of course, it lacks of the tactile feedback of a real keyboard or game controller. But it’s fun to control the video games on the computer over WiFi. Some more it’s a free app, which can be downloaded from iTunes.

The Skype app on the iPhone works similarly to the version for the PC. Unfortunately, the Skype on iPhone does not allow you to make Internet calls over 3G. This is actually because of the plan restriction imposed by your mobile operator. VistaStartMenu 3.0 is a software that adds easiness for you to locate the menus on your Windows Start. In short, the Vista Start Menu is the convenient alternative to your plain Windows start menu. The very basic method by VistaStartMenu 3.0 is making use of visual memory (the ability to memorize images and locations of objects) or reflexes of a human brain, so you can then automatically memorize and locate a menu much more quickly.

Vista Start Menu 3.0 does it by having the menus to alway get arranged back into their original positions or in alphabetical order, and each menu is associated with a unique icon from the program itself. The VistaStartMenu 3.0 also offers the great Single-Click launch. This feature is to identify which program in a folder is the main program that you always launch. And after learning that, it’ll use the icon of the main program for the folder. This allows you to easily locate the program that you wanna access in a highly visualizable manner.

For example in the original Windows start menu, to access Winamp, you’ll need to get to the Winamp folder to launch the Winamp program. And normally it takes some times for you to locate the Winamp folder as it’s simply represented by only a plain “folder” icon.

But if you’ve enabled the Vista Start Menu 3.0, now you can more easily locate where the Winamp folder is, as it’s now associated with the Winamp icon that attracts your eyes easily.

The VistaStartMenu also offers various flexibilities such as enlarging the font size, resizing the entire start menu, adding, grouping, editing menus, drag and drop the start menu around your desktop, adding tabs onto to bottom of the start menu as short cuts to various functions and you even can designate keys of your keyboard to the menus for quick access.

To fix the dead pixels on your LCD monitor, what you’ll need to do is pop over to KillDeadPixel.com. And an image of a flashing square is presented to you (as shown at left-hand side). I’ve even tried couple of songs in the 80’s and 90’s such as those songs I like from The King Of Pop including “Man in the Mirror” and even song as old as “We are the world”, and Songerize managed to play all these songs for me. But Songerize seems to have failed giving me a song from Bon Jovi, which I’ve been searching for many years since I lost the CD. The song is titled “These Days”. When I typed in “These Days”, Songerize returned another Bon Jovi’s song – which was “This ain’t a love song” instead of “These Days”.

While inputting the song title without the artist’s name, Songerize managed to return a song too. Of course, it won’t be the actual song that is in your mind. Such as I was thinking of Mariah Carey’s “Hero”, but I just input the song name “Hero” without inputting the name of the artist, it returned another song, which is also titled “Hero” that I’ve never heard of before.

Overall, Songerize serves as a very handy song player online, that plays you nice song on demand. Besides, the little precision error, Songerize gives pretty satisfactory result for the search of songs. The song database is quite up-to-date, even with some latest songs such as “Apologize” by Timbaland feat One republic. The service is free, but I think it’d mostly charge for fee once it gets popular.

It’s obvious by the product name of this new Apple notebook that Apple is striving towards to making it as thin as a sheet of paper. But to make it as thin as that wouldn’t be an easy task. For the time being, Apple can only make it about twice the thickness of a sheet of paper. And it fits into an envelope too!

Sorry, what I’ve told you above is only a paper-made notebook, which was made by someone, who could have been desperately to want a MacBook Air. But for some unknown reasons, he couldn’t get one for himself, that is why he decided to build himself one using paper.

Although I’ve been a big fan of Java language, doing couple of development of applications on the server-side Java, but I don’t really appreciate much for the kind of desktop Java apps that involve heavy loading of the Java GUI UI. The online OpenOffice launched by Ulteo.com is an Applet web app, which takes pretty long time to download some of the UI components and consumes pretty much memory. Imagine, the OpenOffice requires extremely rich UI and definitely this takes some time to load.

The Ulteo’s online OpenOffice works similarly to Google Docs/Spreadsheet and Zoho, which allows you to create, store, share your office documents online, and you can get it printed in PDF format. You’re given with 1GB free storage and you can create various OpenOffice documents online including Writer, Impress, Calc, Draw, Math and Base.

Anyway, I’ve had several attempts to use the Ulteo’s online OpenOffice, but none of them was a success. I encountered a few problems such as failing to start session and server busy. The two screen shots on top are what I got from Ulteo’s development section. According to the Ulteo page, shown above that its server is getting a big rush that would load extremely slow. Maybe I could only try it some days later when it gets less busier busy.

I was first prompted for upgrading mine from version 8.x to 9.x before I could make use of it to resize some images . Anyway, I’m still far behind from mastering this online image resizing tool. Install this recovery tool on your computer, run it, it will then present you a list of files that are still intact and recoverable. The new version of the Virtual PC has some additional features such as:

It’s available for free download for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. To me, I’m not so interested in running few Microsoft’s OSes under one physical machine. Maybe I’ll do for only XP and Vista. I’m more interested to have different vendor’s operating systems under one physical machine, such as Redhat/uBuntu Linux, Mac, Solaris and Windows XP would be just nice.
