Virgin Media delivers 100Mbps broadband in the UK

Good news for our UK readers. Super high-speed Internet broadband will be coming to your doorsteps soon. The fierce competition between BT and Virgin Media has made a 100Mbps broadband to be available in the UK. The 100Mbps broadband is to be brought by Virgin Media and it will first roll out to some selected areas including Heckmondwike, Farnborough, Colchester, Barry and S Wale.

Google Chrome OS netbook unveiled, Inventec ships 60,000 units for testing

Google has announced the Google Chrome OS netbooks to be coming our way. A few interesting features of the Chrome-OS powered netbook have been demoed by Google including the ability to come back up from sleep almost instantly and the HTML 5 offline storage and app-running capabilities.

LaCie has added a rugged 2.5-inch hard drive case, called LaCie Tank into its line. The LaCie Tank definitely looks rugged enough from its outer shell and is also rain proof, which should protect a 2.5-inch hard drive well to survive any drops or knocks.

D-Link unveils ShareCenter Pulse 2-bay consumer NAS

D-Link has added a new consumer NAS into its line which is known as the D-Link ShareCenter Pulse. The D-link NAS has a model name of DNS-320 which comes with two 3.5-inch SATA hard-drive bays. The device also supports UPnP media streaming, iTunes server functionality, standalone BitTorrent downloads and a number of power management systems that makes it a “green” system.

The power management systems include the hard drive hibernation and also Green Ethernet which is able to control the networking power consumption depending on the state of cabling. The system also has a smart fan that regulates the temperature.

Toshiba intros dual-core NB520 netbook with Harman speaker

Toshiha has introduced two new models of its netbooks, NB500 and NB520. The two netbooks have been given a dual-core 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 processor and they’re capable of handling 720p video.

Toshiba announces self-encrypting 2.5-inch 640GB 7,200RPM hard drive

Self encrypting or hardware encryption technology is what is needed for hard disk drive or SSD to ensure your data is securely stored on the drive without sacrificing the performance. Toshiba has also jumped on the same bandwagon, having announced a new 7,200 RPM 2.5-inch self-encrypting drive.

MSI unveils R6870 graphics card with Twin Frozr II cooling

MIS has added a new graphics card in its line which is known as the MSI R6870. The new MSI graphics card promises lower noise than the previous models. The R6870 Twin Frozr II is powered by a 40nm AMD Radeon HD6870 GPU and has 1GB GDDR5 memory. It’s also cooled by the award-winning Twin Frozr II thermal solution.
