Google seems to have taken another big step, it has expanded the way for its Google Earth to allow you to zoom into the universe. While it’s still at the earlier version, called Sky instead of Google Universe, allows users to view the skies as seen from the Earth!
The Sky application allows users to explore the universe from the comfort of your chair. Users can zoom in very detailed even up to those galaxies that are many millions light years away. And many exciting moments with the universe such as the constellations, seeing the planets in motion, even witnessing a supernova explosion are all possible with Sky.

I was once pretty hot about Google Gears, having plenty of ideas for developing applications that have ability to go offline using Google Gears. But due to busyness or any other kind of other excuses, what a shame that no much result that I have shown to you guys here.
Anyway, forget about my own exploration on Google Gears. Lets look at some solid applications that have adopted the power of Google Gears. TechCrunch has just reported that, one of the pretty hot contestants for online office application suites, Zoho, has incorporated Google Gears to allow its office suite to have the capability of going offline. Meaning that it allows you to access its apps and data even though your computer is not connected to the Internet.

I think quite a number of you also had this bad experience. A domain name that you’ve been eyeing for quite some time, but was stolen a few days after you’d done a WHOIS lookup for its availability. This happened to us, a colleague of mine wanted to register a domain name for a customer. At first she did a check on any of the WHOIS such as the registerfly, cheap-domainnames.com yesterday. What she got was the domain name was available for registration. But she didn’t register the domain name immediately as we needed to get back to the customer to tell them the availability, so we could then get the confirmation and proceed for registration. Unfortunately, when we got the green light and tried to register today, we failed to register it as it’s claimed to have been taken. And I quickly did several WHOIS checks, but couple of them giving me the result only about the domain name has been registered but failed to provide its registrant. Lastly, I managed to get the result from NETWORKSOLUTIONS, which showed that it was just registered yesterday, which I think was a couple of hours after her checking.

If you have been thinking of taking part in the Second Life virtual world, but haven’t done so so far, due to your computer is too slow. And you have no budget to have a big jump for the upgrade of your computer. No worry, there is a pretty light weight web application out there that lets you access the basic functionalities in Second Life. I like this this light-weight web app pretty much as it’s written in Ajax. It’s called AjaxLife and it’s product of a student, Katharine Berry. Having it, you can have your web browser to login to your Second Life account and to access the basic map, teleporting, local chat and instant messaging. The AjaxLife can be accessed here.

I always wish that I could make use of my mobile to write blog post. So, anytime at any place that I have little free time then I can write posts and record down on my blog the very fresh idea that just flashes across my mind. This is possible by using the newly introduced Samsung’s cellphone, SGH-L760. It’s a cellphone that lets you post directly to your blog without the need of a computer. The handset supports 3G high-speed network, equipped with a 2 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth and UMTS connectivity. Of course, it supports all the necessities for blogging such as RSS and compatibility with sites including YouTube, UBlog and Buzznet. Well, it wouldn’t be fun at all having to blog using its small screen and keypad. So, patience is a must or keep your blog post short.

Since the term “web 2.0″ started getting hot a few years ago, there have been tons of the web 2.0 or 3.0 applications or portals mushroomed over the Internet. I’ve been deeply fascinated with all these web 2.0 or 3.0 kind of applications. Of course, the common ones such as Digg, del.icio.us, Flickr etc are always in my mind. But, to discover any new and useful one is not an easy task, which couple of hours a day needed to explore websites, forums and blogs etc. I think SimpleSpark, a web portal that serves as a catalog for web applications, has really done a good job.

WeFi seems to be pretty useful web service for those living in the countries that are full of WiFi free hotspot services. It provides a client software that is downloadable from its website, which you can install on your Windows OS, to easily locate the free WiFi hotspot for you. The WeFi client software will replace your Windows connection manager, which it displays a map that consists of the available hotspot areas and also the other WeFi users. The map will also be regularly updated automatically upon new discovery of hotspot or new users connecting to WiFi. The mapping function is initially generated by users. Users are encouraged to mark down any possible hotspot on the map. And the WeFi client will make use of any known hotspots that it sees to determine if the user-marked spot is really having WiFi service without the need to be connected to it. The WeFi service is currently still in its private beta, which will be made public Wednesday. Well, this service is definitely good for country such as the states, which have all sorts of free WiFi services. WeFi will be further extended to include Twitter support in the following week. This allows WeFi users to make use of Twitter to nofify their friends about the location and name of the network they’re connected to.
