When two of her husband’s work trucks were burgled in Georgia, Mary Chapman got on Facebook to get helps instead of reporting to the police. She messaged her friend who then in turn forwarded it to another who thought she’d seen something strange.

Creating a widget isn’t simple at all for a layman, but with Widgenie, it’s been made so easy, which is what a layman can do by simply uploading a file online, followed by a few drag and drop actions. But due to unforeseen technical errors, the search engine was then brought down and I turned the domain into a blog for my lovely wife, Ms Alexia to occasionally blog about girly stuff, gadgets and celebrities’ gossip. And I’ve promised many times before that I wanted to fix the AskAlexia search engine, with a new look and design and with more features. And after spending a couple of days of hardwork. The AskAlexia search engine has been put back in shape.

If you’d ever noticed this search engine before, it had only web, image and video searches. The new version of Askalexia search engine has been added with two more searches, which are news and music search. And it’s been blended with lighter color design. But the top searched keywords has been temporarily removed on this new version. The feature allows you to select different format of documents, images, videos to search for is still retained.

The I Dose website delivers the so-called Binaural Beats, which are said to affect brainwaves, and will give stimulation of you in different states, such as changing your moods, behavior and consciousness etc. I’ve tried a few of them, streamed over and played. While played using the built-in speakers of my laptop, I could only grab the little soothing effect. The site recommends to use a pair of headphones for the best effect.

Yeah, I’ve got hold of my headphones now, and playing the beat “Inspiration and Creativity”, which is claimed to stimulate inspiration and creativity. It’s like a jungle beat, but I don’t like the background sound which sounds like some kind of machinery or a turbine, which is running at a growing frequency before it settles down at a steady rate. Sorry, I don’t like this beat that much, as it makes me shivering a bit.

I’ve tried a few of them, such as Relaxation, Meditation and Lucid Dreams. Most of them come with a background sound that runs at certain frequencies which I don’t feel comfortable with it. The Meditation beat sounds not bad, except the background tone which is kind of disturbing to me. I’ve even tried couple of songs in the 80’s and 90’s such as those songs I like from The King Of Pop including “Man in the Mirror” and even song as old as “We are the world”, and Songerize managed to play all these songs for me. But Songerize seems to have failed giving me a song from Bon Jovi, which I’ve been searching for many years since I lost the CD. The song is titled “These Days”. When I typed in “These Days”, Songerize returned another Bon Jovi’s song – which was “This ain’t a love song” instead of “These Days”.

While inputting the song title without the artist’s name, Songerize managed to return a song too. Of course, it won’t be the actual song that is in your mind. Such as I was thinking of Mariah Carey’s “Hero”, but I just input the song name “Hero” without inputting the name of the artist, it returned another song, which is also titled “Hero” that I’ve never heard of before.

Overall, Songerize serves as a very handy song player online, that plays you nice song on demand. Besides, the little precision error, Songerize gives pretty satisfactory result for the search of songs. The song database is quite up-to-date, even with some latest songs such as “Apologize” by Timbaland feat One republic. The service is free, but I think it’d mostly charge for fee once it gets popular.

The available online payment services or gateways such as PayPal, Google Checkout, or Amazon Flexible Payment Service all charge you a 2-3% (plus $0.30) as the transaction fees. The transaction fees are actually passed on by them from the credit card companies. And in most cases, merchants or vendors would also wanna pass it on to the shoppers by marking up the products 2-3% higher. But these days, selling online is getting more and more competitive, which would force merchants to swallow this little loss that lowers pretty much of their profit margins. Don’t look down upon the small percentage of loss only, it contributes as much as $5 billion a year loss in the United States alone.

Noca, the new online payment service, a startup by ex-Visa employees, virtually eliminates the transaction fees as they’re providing their own online payment services instead of relying on credit card companies. The move by Noca is aimed to attract more vendors to go online. And they also seek to provide the consumers with more rewarding and secured shopping experience.

Noca also has few other services such as implementing the micro payments, aiming to cater for online payment for all sizes of purchases. And they put more emphasize on the micro payments made through Facebook.

Noca has also launched two Facebook apps to support its micro payments, which are the OneClick Pay and HelpYourWorld. The former is for sending money to friends, such as sending digital checks which needs only your acc and routing numbers instead of using a credit card, which should be more secure. The latter, HelpYourWorld, solicits $1-at-a-time donations for a series of causes, it benefits greatly from Noca’s lack of transaction fees (especially the standard fixed one of $0.30). Noca hopes that many other Facebook applications with similar micro-payment needs will use its APIs to implement its payment service.

Besides, Noca also aims to provide strong and flexible incentives through cash back schemes, frequent flier miles, and the ability to designate a part of your payment to a charity of choice. And they promise of making their services much friendlier than others like PayPal, such as giving more comprehensive transaction history to consumers etc.

Network Solutions was a dominant in domain name registration, which they used to charge pretty high price, $35 per domain. But, recent years, with many rivals coming up and offering pretty low price, as low as $8 per domain, Network Solutions seems to have hard time to gain new customers, although they’re still making good profit from the renewals of domains that registered with them before.

According to TechCrunch, Network Solutions now has jumped on the dirty tactic bandwagon. Similar to UltraRPM, which they will register the domain name immediately in their own name after a user does a search for the domain name for the availability. So, the user will have no choice either to give up that domain name or buy it from Network Solutions for a much higher price of $35 per year!

So far they’ve registered over 72,000 domain names based on user searches. These domain names snatched away by Network Solutions are all temporarily assigned a name server of “reserveddomainname” – the number of registrations pointing to this server is public data and can be seen here.

Registering many of these domain names, will not cost Network Solutions a single cent. A registrar is given a 5-day grace period, which is a rule for registrar to off the hook for credit card fraud. But, now, Network Solutions is using the grace period to stop users from going to competitors, which is definitely outside of the original reasons for the rule.

For a user, if you ain’t wanna pay high price $35 per year to Network Solutions, just wait for 5 working days, the domain will mostly be deleted and available for registration again. Then you can proceed for the registration. And remember, don’t do a search anymore, register the domain name at once for not to give Network Solutions a second chance! (Our domain name that was snatched away by UltraRPM was released after 5 days.)
