Human dynamo: Movements of knee to generate power for gadgets

Human dynamo: Movements of knee to generate power for gadgets
We love green energy, we’ll spend every single effort to find ways to generate green power for our gadgets, even though it’s little absurd. The new idea here is to make use of the movements of your knee to generate electricity to power your portable gadgets or cellphones. It’s be a device that is to be strapped to your leg around the knee, converting the movements of your knees into electricity while you’re walking.

Death of the father: Scientists’ve found way to turn women’s bone marrow into sperm

January 31st, 2008 by ketyung

Death of the father: Scientists’ve found way to turn women’s bone marrow into spermHey man, whether you like it or not, you’ll have no role to play at all in the process of creating new life. Or most probably, you’ll be dumped out of this planet as women will become the dominant and they don’t need men anymore.

Truely speaking, I can hardly believe this piece of news. What the UK scientists have told us is that they’ve found a way to turn women’s bone marrow into sperm, which can take men completely out of the process of creating new life. Are the scientists trying to override what GOD has created for us – the normal process, which creation of new life must be from a man and a woman.

They claim it is good for lesbian couples which they can have children biologically owned by them. Hey, we don’t stop here, it’s also good news for the gay as egg cells can be made from the men’s bone marrow too.

Brain computer interfaces to produce smart artificial limbs that interact with your brain!

December 24th, 2007 by ketyung

Brain computer interfaces
What have the scientists taken today’s computer technology to? It’s somehow quite beyond our imagination. Some researchers have claimed that they’ve managed to produce some computer interfaces that can be part of your body and interact with your brain. This new computing technology is called invasive BCI, which stands for brain computer interface, which has now taken BCI a step further for integrating into human body to replace lost body parts.

Fat-powered motorboat Earthrace
Suck the extra fat out of your body and give it to this guy, Peter Bethune. Let him build a boat that is powered by your body fat to let you sail across the globe in super high speed! It isn’t a joke, the guy mentioned here built an eco-boat, called Earthrace, powered by bio-diesel made of fat from his backside. He intends to set new world speed record for circumventing the globe in the boat next year. More pictures and video after the jump!

Sony’s glucose-generated greener juice for gadgets

August 23rd, 2007 by ketyung

Sony's glucose-generated greener juice for gadgets
We need greener juice for gadgets to maintain better health of our ozone layer. Look around, what can be used to produce greener juice? Glucose, which is simply excessive for the diabetic patients, but, now Sony has grabbed it for powering your gadgets. Isn’t it fun?

In one hand of the lady shown in the picture, is a glucose-operated battery, which was used to power an MP3 player in the other hand of hers. Sony has figured out how power can be generated out of carbohydrates by breaking down enzymes that release active energy. This glucose-generated energy although little but still sufficient to power small electronic device. Sony has got a demo video on their press release site.

“Greenbox” makes bio-fuel from car fumes

July 22nd, 2007 by ketyung

This is definitely a breakthrough technology. Three fishing buddies in Wales have successfully developed a box that is to be fixed underneath the car to replace the normal exhaust pipe. The box will be able to capture the carbon emission of the car, which can then be sent for processing to convert the captured gas to useful biofuel using genetically modified algae. The box is dubbed “Greenbox“, which is able to capture all the culprits of the global warming – carbon dioxide and nitrous oxide. For a car that has it fixed, almost all the carbon emissions will be captured and leaving mostly water vapor be emitted.

The three fishing buddies stumbled across this great finding while experimenting with carbon dioxide to help boost algae growth for fish farming. Over the two years with about 130 tests carried out, they managed to achieve a capture rate between 85 and 95 percent. And the three now has formed a company, called Maes Anturio Limited and they’ve approached several local agencies for support and also approached car-makers Toyota Motor Corp of Japan and General Motors Corp. But the car-makers still remain silent. If this “Greenbox” goes materialized, the car owners who’ve got a “Greenbox” would need to replace it when they fill up their cars and send the “Greenbox” to a bioreactor to be emptied there. At the bioreactor, the captured gas from the box would be fed to algae, which would then be crushed to produce bio-fuel.

“Sake” powered car is possible

May 15th, 2007 by ketyung

Sake powered vehicle!
“Sake”, the traditional rice wine and also the national drink of the Japanese, sounds like it could be used as an alternative or replacement for gasoline, to power your vehicles. Currently, this is still at the pretty early stage, which is a pilot project being carried out in the town of Shinanomachi, to produce a cheap ethanol brew from rice, which is giving hopes to cars in Japan to run on this kind of biofuel in the near future. Biofuel is definitely in high need in Japan, as Japan is the world’s second largest gasoline consumer after the United States.
