Now researchers at Carnegie Mellon University have made it possible for drivers to see through road obstacles by having built an augmented reality system that brings the see-through capabilities to car drivers. How does the AR system do that? Basically, the system consists of two cameras, one captures the driver’s view and a second captures the scene behind a view-blocking wall. The feeds from the second camera is then picked up a computer which layers it on top of the images captured by the first camera, to make walls and other obstacles appear transparent.

The system can be extended to combine any roadside cameras, which will be made capable of transmitting feeds wirelessly and displayed on the car’s windshield instead of a monitor to make the drivers’ life much easier. The system also makes use of advanced software to minimize distortion of moving objects in the captured images.

Castrol says that the Flossie robot is best used in testing of bikes with increased acceleration or power. Well, Flossie test those Castrol’s bikes in stationary mode. And it’s able to self learn such as learning the gear change pattern, clutch feel etc of the bike that he is riding.

Apparently, Flossie is not going to ride the bike on the road at high speed, so the chance of crashing the bike is almost zero. Put aside all my imagination that it may attract cosmic rays. But it certainly does attract sun rays for its power. This electric car is different from others, which can have its energy renewable by sun lights.

Currently, the DreamCar123 is still in its prototype stage which runs at snail speeds of 15 to 20 mph and may go up to 40 down to the hill. The maker, Zanis, is currently looking for investors, plans to have this pyramid-shaped electric car to go over 250mph in a tunnel city by city.

The finished DreamCar123 will eventually be equipped with a solar panel and a wind turbine that can harness sunbeams and wind to charge its internal rechargeable batteries. And it’ll be charged in a solar tower, which can also be used to power the home and car of the user. This electric car was auctioned on eBay before, but it seems like it’s been removed from eBay. Theoretically, the Roadster should be able to travel up to 280 miles on a single charge. If the numbers stand up to official scrutiny, Tesla will hold the world record for the longest distance traveled by a production electric vehicle on a single charge.

But something to be noted is the car was driven by a company staff trained in eking out very last mile from a charge. The driver was trying to maintain a speed that would let the battery last longer. The Roadster traveled at 90kph (56mph) on the motorways, 60kph (37mph) on trunk roads and 30kph (19) in the mountain roads. Tesla reckon the average speed for the entire journey was 45kph (28mph).
