Thank God! TechChee is back online

August 16th, 2007 by ketyung

Thank God! Our server is back online
The server where TechChee is on was down for several hours. Anyone of you should have noticed TechChee was unaccessible for the past several hours. I was going little bit frustrated of this. I contacted the BlueHost helpdesk at first using their online support ticketing system. I submitted a few tickets but noticed that those tickets seemed to have disappeared. And only afterwards I realized that there were a few emails happened to drop in my Spam box at GMail instead of the usual inbox telling me that I need to use LiveChat instead of the tickets for server down time issue.

Annoucement – two more categories for TechChee , web development and opensource tips

May 2nd, 2007 by ketyung

web development annoucement!
I was a trainer giving quite a number of training on those open source and web app development based on open source technolgy before I started devoting my time into blogging. I got a group of students, who are currently working on quite a number of web app development projects and they’ve requested many times that they’d like me to have another blog that include tips and tutorial on web app development, which shall include the topics such as PHP, Java, MySQL, Apache and Linux etc.

Other than TechChee, I did start another development blog earlier on, which is supposed to be under a sub-domain of TechChee, i.e dev.TechChee.com. Due to my overly busy schedule, this blog didn’t get frequently updated. In order to fulfill this overdue request, I’ve decided not to continue on the development blog, but to include two more categories on TechChee here, they are “Web Development” and also “Opensource Tips”. In such a case, it’ll be less taxing and very much easier for the maintainance for me, who is handling this blog single-handedly both for the posts and design. This decision shouldn’t be too much affecting the current theme of TechChee, which still makes it topics center around “technology” and “gadgets”. The main topics of TechChee still remain the same, i.e shop online and gadgets. The posts for these two new categories will only be in the ratio of one out of five of those gadgetry posts as usual. Which means, if I post about 5-6 posts about gadgetry a day, then, perhaps, I’ll write one post either in the category of web development or opensource tips. So, TechChee’s readers, hope you won’t get too surprised if you’re seeing posts about more technical stuff such as programming and web development in the coming blog posts. The topics that will be covered under the two new categories, “web development” and “opensource”, will be as follows:

1. Linux or General opensource stuff

2. PHP

3. Java

4. AJAX/DHTML/JavaScript

5. Apache

6. MySQL

7. Oracle or more to be decided later.

There will be no sub-categories for the time being to differentiate further which of the above for any posts that fall under the two new categories. I’ll only tag them to differentiate it.

Web development,PHP,MySQL,Apache,Linux,Java,Programming,Ajax

Boost your Technorati’s ranking : Another Technorati’s favorite exchange experiment

Boost your Technorati's ranking : Another Technorati's favorite exchange experiment
There has been a pretty hot wind blowing over the blogosphere, i.e Technorati’s favorite exchange. Doing this will surely give you a big step ahead for pushing your blog’s Technorati ranking. I’ve seen quite a number of blogs doing it before but I never bothered to take part in it. Anyway, due to the invitation by TechLivez.com, another nice tech blog, then I’ve also decided to join the group and followed the trend here. Of course, there is nothing to lose to join this trend. For more info on this, read the followings and this would be much more effective than doing it using John Chow’s method:

Integration with Digg for TechChee is in my wish list!

April 20th, 2007 by ketyung

DIGG API !
Digg has officially released its public API (Application Programming Interface). Which means we can create web pages to interact with Digg programmatically. The API is available free of charge for everyone. Similar to other web 2.0 or web service API, the API accepts REST requests and will return Digg data in the form of either XML or JSON or Javascript or serialized PHP, which can be easily parsed and integrated into an web site or application. Other than this it also offers as a PHP PEAR module.

As I have the intention to expand TechChee along the way, one of the options will be looking into what Digg API can help to turn TechChee into a stickier and more useful sites other than just a blog.

Anyway, according to TechCrunch, Digg is having a massive party tonight in San Francisco to celebrate their one million registered user milestone and they are now at 1.2 million registered users.
