Force Touch is the new technology that has been introduced on the Apple Watch and the MacBook trackpad. Although the first smartphone that’s been announced featuring Force Touch belongs to the Huawwei Mate S but it doesn’t bring too much interesting usage with the Force Touch.
The Mate S is currently known to be able to let you weigh some light objects on its touchscreen display. And there have not been other known applications that can be used on the Mate S with the Force Touch. It sounds like Huawei simply makes use of the hot name of the Force Touch to tell the world that it’s got a phone that supports something similar. Anyway, the real Force Touch on smartphones is said to come with the upcoming iPhone 6s or 6s plus. And Apple has taken the Force Touch to the next level, which is called 3D Force Touch. And the new iPhone’s display is called 3D Touch Display
As its name implies the 3D Force Touch on the iPhone 6s/6s Plus will be able to sense different levels of pressures for different controls from 3 dimensions instead of 2 dimensions. The 2-dimension Force Touch on the Apple Watch or the MacBook Trackpad lets it be able to differentiate between a tap and a press. And the 3D Force Touch on the iPhone 6s/6s Plus will let the phone be able to sense three levels of pressure: a tap, a press and a deeper press.
The currently known applications that will let 3D Touch Display/Force Touch to take advantage of including the Maps, Music apps, which 3D Force Touch will help reduce the number of gesture steps. And with the iOS 9, developers will be able to develop apps & games that make use of the 3D Force Touch. It’ll be very interesting to see upcoming games that support the 3D Force Touch, such as you can have tap, press and deeper press to control a game character to have different actions in the game.
