Lensbaby announces the availability of 80mm Edge 80 Optic

Lensbaby has added a new optic known as Edge 80 into its Optic Swap System. This new optic is compatible with Lensbaby Composer Pro, Composer, Muse, Scout and Control Freak, will transform any of these bending lens into a tilt lens that delivers a selective slice of sharp focus through an image. It’s similar to the Lensbaby Sweet 35 Optic, the Edge 80 also comes with the Lensbaby’s internal 12-blade adjustable aperture.

The Edge 90 provides a flat field of focus, pointed straight ahead, takes photos that are sharp from edge to edge. Tilting the Edge 80 allows photographers to create vertical, horizontal and diagonal slices of focus through the image. A simulaor is available on Lensbaby website giving you more insight on how tilt, aperture, and focus affect an Edge 80 image.

Well, the Lensbaby Edge 80 optic doesn’t come cheap, sets you back at $300 each. But serious photographers wouldn’t mind that price tag. The specs at a glance are as follows:
