Now your smartphone can be an ECG device allowing you to monitor your heart rhythm while you’re on the go. A relatively new but fast-growing medical technologies company known as Everist Genomics has developed the CardioDefender which is an ECG system that pairs with your smartphones or tablets for monitoring heart rate or detecting any possible heart problem on the go.
The CardioDefender is the world’s first approved smartphone ECG (electrocardiogram) system, providing hospital-quality heart rhythm monitoring for physicians and patients while they’re outside the hospital.
The CardioDefender offers many unique capabilities allowing physicians to diagnose and treat potentially life-threatening heart arrhythmias. The CardioDefender comes included with a bracelet which straps on the patient’s wrist, collects data and shoots it to a smartphone with an application which analyzes and stores it. The app on the smartphone will instantly alert the user if he or she’s been found with some heart problem and their doctor will be notified as well.
CardioDefender has now been deployed at more than 150 medical facilities in the US for post-approval evaluation and will be made available for physicians worldwide this year.
