The latest PCIe-based SSD from OCZ, known as the OCZ Z-Drive R4 is offering a super high speed of data transfer of 2,800MB/s (Megabytes per second). It’s also capable of pumping at a rate of over 500,000 input-output operations per second (IOPS). All these massive figures are great for enterprise data applications and cloud computing that need high data transfer rate.
The OCZ Z-Drive R4 comes in two different form factors which suit different sizes of servers. The first form factor is a half height card that suits space-constrained 1U server or multi-node rack-mount server. While the other model is a full height card that’s suitable for tower-based or larger servers. Both models support the single-level cell (SLC) and multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash.
The Z-Drive R4 PCIe SSD is suitable for organizations dealing with huge amount of data and those involved in cloud computing. The Z-Drive R4 can be equipped with a Single SuperScale controller or a dual SuperScale controller. The former offers the mentioned 2,800 MB/s while the latter offers double the performance, pumping data at a rate of 5,600 MB/s and 1.2 million IOPS.
The OCZ Z-Drive R4 is also integrated with the OCZ VCA 2.0, a multifaceted virtualization layer that interfaces with the OCZ SuperScale Storage Controller which combines processing and full DMA cores, as well as internal PCIe, SATA and SAS physical interfaces.
