Most Android phones come with a large touchscreen display and you’ll hardly find Android phones in clamshell design. Sharp has rolled out a new Android phone known as Sharp AQUOS Phone The Hybrid 007SH and is dubbed as the world’s first Android clamshell phone.
But we believe this is not the first Android clamshell as we’ve featured a few Android clamshell phones, such as the Samsung SCH-W899.
The Sharp AQUOS Phone The Hybrid 007SH would be qualified as the world’s first clamshell phone running the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. Specs wise, the handset has something up to par with most Android smartphones.
It has a 3.4-inch WVGA 3D New Mobile ASV touchscreen, a 16.1 megapixel rear camera (that’s a lot) that’s capable of 720p video recording and even capable of shooting photos and recording video in 3D mode.
The handset also packs other goodies, including an AQUOS TV connector, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. And it comes in a PX5/IPX7 waterproof body that will be usefull for users who always spill drink on their handsets.
The AQUOS Phone The Hybrid 007SH will be available in Japan only which is where clamshell handsets are still popular. No indication whether it’ll be headed to other countries.
