We’ve been little sluggish lately to report the next generation of iPhone. Latest sources indicate that the next-gen iPhone will be branded as iPhone 4S instead of the previously rumored iPhone 5. The iPhone 4S is also expected to launch sometime in September, which matches the previously rumored release date of the iPhone 5.
Now there are more news indicating that Apple is ready to launch the iPhone 4S in September which is also being reflected by the facts that Apple has lowered its production of the iPhone 4 in Q2 of 2011, from 20 million units, to 17.5-18 million units. This consists of 16 million 3G models and 1.5-2 million of CDMA models.
Anyway, the next-gen iPhone is known as the iPhone 4S instead of iPhone 5. Apparently, the name 4S still shows that the phone has some close similarity to the iPhone 4 rather than a big leap to the next generation.
So, do not expect a big change, according to Tuaw, the iPhone 4S will only be a minor revamp of the iPhone 4. Changes including some minor cosmetic changes, better cameras (8-megapixel rear camera), a faster, dual-core A5 processor, and HSPA+ connectivity. It’ll also come with the support for T-Mobile and Sprint.
So, the iPhone 4S would not have 4G LTE chipset. It’ll still provide you the HSDPA/HSUPA 3G speeds of 21Mbps download and 7.2Mbps upload. Some reports also indicate that LTE will not be available until next year. Anyway, we’ll update you when we have more info.
