Addonics NAS 3.0 Adapter lets you create your own cloud storage

Addonics has upgraded their NAS adapter which now comes in the form of the NAS 3.0 adapter. Similar to the previous generations of their NAS adapters, the device lets you hook up an USB hard drive and turns it into a NAS to be accessible within the LAN. But what makes this 3rd-gen NAS adapter special is it lets you create your own cloud storage, making the content stored on the hard drive accessible over the Internet. And you can create your own cloud storage with a storage capacity up to a whopping 128 PetaByte (1PB=1,000TB).

The Addonics NAS 3.0 adapter is able to turn any hard drive, SSD or other USB storage devices into a NAS (Network Attached Storage). It supports storage with NTFS and exFAT file system for a max drive volume of 256TB and 128PB respectively.

The adapter has a built-in WebDav server that works in conjunction with the WebDav client software to let the data stored in the server be accessible anywhere in the world through Internet.

There are WebDav apps available, which allow you to use your iPhone or Android smartphone to access the data stored on the USB storage device attached to the NAS 3.0 adapter.

The NAS 3.0 adapter is now available for $65. Since it supports WebDav, you should be able to download any free WebDav-compatible apps from the iTunes or Android market to allow you to access your data from your iPhone or Android phone. For example, the free WebDav navigator should be sufficient to let you access your data using your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
