Seagate has confirmed that they’re prepping a wireless mobile storage called the GoFlex Satellite. The device serves as an additional, external storage drive for your computers or iPhone, iPad or iPod etc. Unlike a traditional storage drive, the Seagate GoFlex Satellite frees you from the hassles of wires as you’ll be able to store your data on it via WiFi.
The Satellite mobile storage supports WiFi b/g/n which allows WiFi-enabled devices to transfer data to and from it. It has half a terabyte of storage capacity which is 15 times the capacity of a 32GB iPhone 4 and 8 times more than a 64GB iPad.
There are more users storing and streaming audio and video on their iPhone or iPad these days. Apparently, the 32GB or 64GB of storage capacity is not sufficient for most of you. Now with this 500GB wireless storage drive, you can even save the entire iTunes library, including all the music, videos, pictures and other data.
The GoFlex Satellite has an internal rechargeable battery that lasts up to 5 hours of active use and 25 hours on standby. For an iPhone, iPad or iPod to talk to the GoFlex Satellite, you’ll need to download and install the free GoFlex Media app from iTunes. The GoFlex Satellite will arrive this July at Amazon, BestBuy.com and Seagate.com and retail for $199.
