Sony Ericsson announces Xperia Mini and Mini Pro Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphones


Sony Ericsson have readied the second generation of their Xperia mini smartphones, known as the Xperia Mini and Xperia Mini Pro. Both smartphones run the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini is the standard version and the Xperia Mini Pro is the “pro” version that offers a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Both versions have quite a number of changes from the previos generation.

Both versions now have a larger 3-inch screen and the Xperia Mini is even slightly larger than the previous generation. But the width and thickness still remain the same.

The screen of the Xperia Mini and Mini Pro now comes with a higher resolution of 320 x 480 (HVGA) (from the 240 x 320 (QVGA) of the previous generation). They also pack a 5-megapixel camera, with a 8x digital zoom and 720p HD video recording capability. The Xperia Mini is even dubbed as the smallest HD-capable Android smartphone which comes in dimensions of 88 x 52 x 16mm.

Both devices come equipped with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. They also offer Bluetooth, aGPS, DLNA connectivity and micro USB. Find out more about the hands-on of these devices on Pocket-lint.
