The Fossil Meta Watch that was shown off by HP two months ago, has now got its price and availability. The Meta Watch will start taking pre-order from May 9 and it’ll start shipping in July.
There were some questions raised, about why the watch packed an analog watch face? In fact, there are two versions of this watch, which are an analog and a digital version.
The Meta Watch is able to pair with your phone, tablet or other device via Bluetooth. It’s based on the TI MSP430 microcontroller, and it’ll have open source Meta Watch SDK/API for the developers to further develop interesting apps to push more information to its tiny watch face.
The watch comes in a 3 ATM water resistant stainless steel case and it packs a number of sensors including 3-axis accelerometer, vibration motor and ambient light sensor.
The analog version has two 16 x 80 white OLED displays and the digital version has a 96 x 96 reflective display. Although they have tiny displays but should be sufficient to let you stay aware of incoming calls, messages or some online activities of your friends, while keeping your smartphone or tablet in your pocket or backpack. The watch is priced at $200 USD and will be available sometime in July 2011. It will be shown off as well at Google IO next week.
