This looks like a great product but why does it need the audio cable?
Isn’t the audio available through the “docking port” that is used for charging?

Hi Jon,
I’ve answered your question above. Anyway, my entry doesn’t count here

Actually, I’m confused as to why there’s an audio jack on the charger since most every device (maybe not the iPod Nano or Shuffle?) already has a headphone jack?
Still, I really would love a car charger for our iPod/iPads.

Hey Darryl,
What if you wanna place your iPhone or iPad on the car seat or in a holder while it’s charged?
If you connect the audio cable to the device’s audio jack, you’ll need a much longer audio cable and you’ll have a cable hanging halfway
or you’ll end up having two cables coming out of your device i.e. the charge cable to the lighter socket and the audio cable to car stereo
So, when the audio cable is directly connected to the cigarette lighter socket connector, then it’ll be much neater
. My comment here doesn’t count either

As always, Techchee comes up with the best gadgets and what could be better than a gadget that keeps your other gadgets charged? When I’m out running around, my big worry is running out of juice on my iPhone and iPad. It’s amazing how you come to depend on them; right?

Now this is seriously amazing. I especially like the feature where you can play music through your car’s audio system. I have a comment though, that is a bit tangential to this nifty piece of equipment: I wonder when they’ll stop calling the pluggy thing in the car “cigarette lighter sockets”? I mean, I haven’t seen one used as a cigarette lighter in at least 25 years. Isn’t it about time they start calling them “car chargers”?
