Project iKinect aims to bring you better and more refined micro gesture controls by the combination of the Microsoft Kinect and the iPhone.
The project iKinect is based on the PC system, which allows for more complex gameplay. The system uses the Kinect motion sensor track general movement and relies on the iPhone’s various sensors and touchscreen for micro movement recognition.
Of course, this project is just a hack of the existing Kinect and borrows some technologies from the iPhone. The combination of the two manages to bypass the Microsoft’s limitations on micro-movement recognition.
Such as the system uses the Kinect sensor to track the general movement of a fighter craft while the iPhone’s sensors and touchscreen are used to control its weapons.
The team behind the iKinect consists of Khairul Nizam and his Rockmoon team of merry Unity3D, Kinect and iOS developers. Currently, the system should just be a prototype. Hopefully, we’ll see its integration into smartphones and gadgets for gameplay soon.
