Toshiba has unveiled the world’s first glasses-free 3D notebook, Dynabook Qosmio T851/D8CR, which can display both 3D and 2D simultaneously.
The Toshiba Dynabook Qosmio T851/D8CR notebook allows the user to have one window playing their 3D games or watching 3D movies, and having another window running 2D applications such as checking email, reading news at the same time.
The Toshiba 3D notebook makes use of the webcam on the notebook to track the user’s face to deliver the 3D images to each eye correctly. It also features the SpursEngine which is a dedicated image processor which converts 2D to 3D images automatically. With this feature, users can watch their favorite 2D terrestrial, BS and 110 CS digital broadcasts in 3D. The Toshiba’s 3D Window is what makes 2D and 3D contents to be displayed at the same time.
The only worry is if the 3D will work under low-light condition since it’s dependent on the webcam that will fail to track the user’s face under low-light condition.
