The Hitachi’s storage devision, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, which has been acquired by Western Digital, has announced its first USB 3.0 external hard drives, known as Touro Mobile Pro Portable Drive and the Touro Desk Pro External Drive.
The specialty of the two USB 3.0 portable drives is they come bundled with personal cloud-based backup for your data. This allows you to store or backup your data online on a cloud-based service. This lets you have at least two copies of your data, eliminates the little worry of having to lose all data, while the hard drive stops functioning.
Both drives spin at 7,200rpm. The Touro Desk Pro External Drive is the larger one in the picture, which will be available in three versions in June – 1TB, 2TB and 3TB and priced at $130, $180 and $230 respectively. The smaller drive, Touro Mobile Pro Portable Drive is already available in the US with storage capacities of 500GB ($110) and 750GB ($130).
Each drive comes with a mere 3GB of cloud backup storage. But if you want more, you can pay for $49 a year for 250GB of cloud storage space.
