Pwnage jailbreak and redsn0w from the iPhone Dev Team have been released to be used to handle the iOS 4.3.1, the latest iOS update that was just released last week. The Pwnage jailbreak and redsn0w allow you to jailbreak and unlock your AT&T (GSM) iPhone 4 (but not the Verizon iPhone 4), iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G and 4G, iPad 1 and Apple TV 2G.
It’s an untethered jailbreak solution, which means you do not have to connect your device to a PC or Mac, after the device has rebooted or its battery’s drained out. Currently, the Pwnage works on the Apple TV. Those who’ve unlocked their devices using the ultrasn0w, are advisable not to update yet or else you’d lose your unlock completely. So, please wait till the Dev Team releases an update for the ultrasn0w (to be announced via their Twitter), based on custom IPSW files, fixing some incompatibilities used on the older basebands.
The jailbreak for the iPad 2 using this new tool is still works-in-progress. As the iPad 2 requires a bootrom or iBoot-level exploit to install. Anyway, the new Pwnage and redsn0w are said to be much easier tools on both the Windows and Mac OS platforms.
