
Kenwood has announced the availability of its new in-dash sat nav system, DNX9980HD, which comes with HD radio and Pandora Internet radio links. The Pandora link on the new Kenwood satnav, requires the user to use an iPhone with the Pandora app to control it.
The iPhone Pandora app will have the same onscreen controls of the system. The new Kenwood DNX9980HD navigation system has a 6.95-inch touchscreen display that displays navigation, album artwork and various visuals.
The navigation is actually delivered by Garmin which includes realistic looking 3D buildings and landmarks fo maps around round metropolitan areas. You can also hook up an optional module to the Kenwood sat nav, to allow it to retrieve some useful vehicle data such as fuel consumption, engine temperature and exhaust emissions.
It also includes the free for life, built-in NAVTEQ Live Traffic service and voice recognition capabilities for hands-free operation of the system. The 6.95-inch touchscreen of this sat nav is also good for video playbacks from various sources such as iPod, DVD and USB. It’s a super pricey device, costs $2,000 each.
