
Finally, the RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook tablet has the answer for its prices and availability. WiFi-only PlayBook starts at a price of $500 and is available for pre-orders on a number of online stores including BestBuy.com and some Canada websites.
The 16GB WiFi-only model is priced at $500, 32GB is priced at $600 and the 64GB costs $700. The PlayBook will go to a number of other stores in the US as well including Staples, Radio Shack, Office Depot etc. The tablet will work on a number of carriers including AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. The PlayBook is also expected to be available in over 20,000 stores in the US.
Just to refresh your mind, the PlayBook packs a 7-inch screen with a 1024×600 resolution, is powered by an NVidia Tegra 2 processor and 1GB RAM. The PlayBook has a rear camera of 5 megapixels and a front-facing camera of 3 megapixels.
The BlackBerry PlayBook supports push emails, but it needs to be paired with a BlackBerry smartphone via Bluetooth. The tablet runs an optimized version of the QNX OS which is capable of multi-tasking ad it supports Flash 10.1 on the web browser. It also has a number of hardware goodies including gyroscope, GPS, accelerometer, digital compass and speakers.
