Future BlackBerry devices and tablets will come with NFC (Near Field Communication) support, allowing you to make contactless NFC payment using your BlackBerry device at counters or terminals that are equipped with the NFC payment facilities. According to Stephen Bates, the MD of RIM in UK, all their new devices will come with NFC capabilities.
NFC is deemed to bring new businesses, new markets and new revenue streams. If you plan to upgrade your BlackBerry device, you’ll be able to use it like an eWallet, making contactless payments on the run, such as paying for concert tickets, subway tickets etc.
More smartphones will come with NFC capabilities, such as the recently released Android 2.3 and 2.3.3 are what bringing NFC to Android devices. Currently, Google Nexus S is the only Android phone with NFC but more Android phones are expected to come with NFC capabilities over the coming months.
