HTC has finally released the HTC Merge, the smartphone that had some rumors in 2010 but never saw daylight and it was believed that HTC pulled it back to add LTE support. But finally, the HTC Merge has been announced for its availability.
The HTC Merge is an Android 2.2 smartphone that packs a CDMA radio instead of a GSM and it’s the first CDMA Android phone of the company. The HTC Merge packs a 3.8-inch screen, a 5-megapixel rear camera, but unfortunately there is no word about any LTE support, although it was the reason the handset was allegedly pulled in the first place.
The HTC Merge should go on sale sometime in Spring 2011. And it’s believed that the LTE support would only be available with certain carriers such as Verizon, and they most likely reserve it to make a bigger splash with the supported carriers in Spring.
